The College Council will elect two Research Fellows beginning 1 September 2026. These highly competitive, three-year posts (non-renewable) are designed for scholars eager to establish a successful research profile:
- One Fellowship in the Sciences (Mathematics, Engineering, Biological, Medical, and Veterinary Sciences).
- One Fellowship in Literary Studies (English, Modern & Medieval Languages, Classics, and related fields).
Special circumstances such as extended parental or medical leave may be considered.
Fellowship Amount
- Stipend: £28,031 annually (rising with each year). If the Fellow has not yet completed their PhD, a lower stipend of £25,249 applies until submission.
- Teaching: Opportunities available, limited to 80 hours per year, paid at standard University rates.
- Accommodation: Rent-free single-occupancy flats (subject to service charge) or two-bedroom options for couples/families at subsidized rates. Those not in residence receive a £5,900 living-out allowance.
- Research Support: £1,500 annual Academic Allowance and £500 Entertainment Allowance.
- Privileges: Fellows’ dining rights, access to College facilities, and full integration into Cambridge’s research community.
Non-stipendiary applicants (already funded from external sources) are equally welcomed, enjoying all College benefits without the stipend.
Visa Sponsorship Facility
For international applicants, the College may provide sponsorship under the UK Global Talent Visa scheme, covering visa and health surcharge costs (with claw-back clauses if the post is not taken up).
