Summer Scholarships 2026 Open for All at Lund University

Applications are now officially open for the Summer Research Scholarship 2026 and the Preparatory Research School 2026 at Lund University, marking one of the institution’s most significant annual calls for students seeking structured research training and financial support. These scholarship programs remain essential pathways for medical students aiming to gain hands-on academic research exposure during the June–August 2026 academic period, with the scholarships serving as a critical foundation for early-stage researchers preparing for scientific careers.

Scholarship Benefits Details

The Summer Research Scholarship offers a total award amount of SEK 27,200 distributed across June and July, enabling students to complete a ten-week research project that includes eight weeks of dedicated research and two weeks of examination preparation.

The funding is partially covered by the Faculty of Medicine and partially by the student’s supervisor, ensuring academic collaboration and shared responsibility for the research process. For the Preparatory Research School, students receive the same level of full financial support, funded entirely by the Faculty of Medicine for two summer months, guaranteeing the resources needed to complete both the spring preparatory component and the summer project.

Application Period

For the Summer Research Scholarship, the initial application stage closes on 26 January 2026, with results communicated by 17 February 2026. Students proceeding to course selection must submit their project plans by 21 April 2026. For the Preparatory Research School, scholarship and course applications close earlier, on 9 December 2025, with project plan submissions due on 24 April 2026. The university encourages early submissions given the two-step process and the high demand for research supervision spaces.
