If you’re aiming to pursue a world-class research degree in the UK, Swansea University has just unlocked another major opportunity for global talent. The Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship (SUIPRES) is now open for the 2026 entry cycle, giving outstanding international applicants a chance to step into a fully supported PhD or Professional Doctorate pathway at one of the UK’s leading research universities.
This scheme is designed for students who can demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and research promise—making it one of the most competitive scholarship routes for international doctoral students.
Swansea University Funding & Financial Benefits
This scholarship aims to remove one of the biggest financial barriers for international students—the higher tuition fee rate. Here’s what SUIPRES offers:
A competitive funding package that reduces international tuition to the UK home-rate level.
The Benefits of Fellowship:
- Covers the full difference between the International and Home tuition fee rates for the entire duration of the PhD/Professional Doctorate.
- Successful awardees pay fees aligned to the standard UK rate:
– £4,786 for 2024/25
– £5,006 for 2025/26 (increasing annually by approx. 3% in line with UKRI regulations). - Scholarship value is automatically deducted from tuition fees.
- Applicants retain responsibility for showing financial readiness to cover remaining fees and living expenses throughout the degree.
This scheme is ideal for high-performing students who can self-fund living costs but seek significant fee support.
