Syvilla Fort Scholarship 2025 at Cornish College – Now Accepting Applications

Cornish College of the Arts has officially opened applications for the 2025 Syvilla Fort Scholarship, a prestigious opportunity honoring the remarkable legacy of Syvilla Fort. As the first person of color to enroll at Cornish in 1932, Syvilla Fort’s influence continues to shape the college’s artistic community, especially in the Music and Dance departments. This scholarship is dedicated to supporting continuing students of color across all majors who demonstrate financial need and academic excellence.

Scholarship Overview

The Syvilla Fort Scholarship Fund was established to champion diversity, provide financial aid, and create pathways for students of color at Cornish College of the Arts. A minimum of two scholarships are awarded annually to eligible returning students.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the 2025 Syvilla Fort Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a returning student at Cornish College of the Arts
  • Self-identify as a student of color
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need based on FAFSA

Application Timeline

  • Application Opens: February 1, 2025
  • Application Deadline: March 1, 2025
  • Committee Review: 2nd week of March
  • Decision Notification: April 1, 2025
  • Announcement of Recipients: April 18, 2025.
