Teach and Study in United States on Fulbright FLTA 2026-2027 Scholarships
The U.S. Embassy has announced an exciting opportunity for young educators to experience American academic and cultural life. Applications are now open for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. This program enables early career teachers to spend nine months in the United States, teaching Arabic at American colleges and universities while also taking courses on American culture and related fields.
Funding Package
The Fulbright FLTA is a fully funded, non-degree exchange program covering all major expenses. Selected fellows will receive:
- Travel coverage including roundtrip airfare between other countries and the United States.
- Monthly living stipend to cover housing, food, and daily expenses.
- Health insurance during the program period.
- Tuition coverage for academic courses taken at the host U.S. university.
- Professional development and cultural enrichment opportunities, offering participants exposure to American society while serving as cultural ambassadors of countries.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Hold at least the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by June 1, 2026 (License + 1st year of MA).
- Be early career teachers with no more than seven years of teaching experience.
- Show fluency in English and strong proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic.
- Demonstrate interest in teaching native language and culture in the U.S. and adaptability to different environments.
- Not hold U.S. citizenship or dual nationality.

Application Timeline
The deadline to apply for the Fulbright FLTA 2026–2027 is August 31, 2025. Applications must be submitted online at apply.iie.org/flta2026. Only complete applications submitted before the deadline will be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews, and plagiarism or AI-generated content in applications will result in disqualification.
