A major international residency opportunity is now officially open for professional artists, cultural practitioners, and researchers worldwide. The World Heritage Residence/Scholarship 2026 at Hälsingland, Sweden, is inviting global applicants to take part in a unique UNESCO-connected scholarship and residency program focused on cultural heritage, artistic exchange, and world heritage research.
Known as the World Heritage Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland International Scholarship and Residency, this program is designed for individuals who want to develop an artistic or research project that connects the famous Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland with one or more other UNESCO World Heritage Sites across the globe.
With nearly 1,000 applications from over 100 countries last year, this scholarship has quickly become one of the most competitive and exciting heritage-based international residencies available.
The scholarship is awarded to applicants who present a clear, relevant, and feasible idea focused on cultural heritage, conservation, universal value, and knowledge exchange in the spirit of UNESCO.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected applicants will receive:
- A 4-week residency at Kristofers Farm (Järvsö) or Erik-Anders Farm (Söderala)
- A scholarship grant worth 50,000 SEK
- Travel support to and from Hälsingland
- An international cultural heritage residency experience

Application Deadline
The last date to apply for the World Heritage Residence/Scholarship 2026 at Hälsingland is February 28th, 2026. Applications are open from January 15th, 2026 to February 28th, 2026.
The scholarship holder will be announced in November 2026, and the residency will take place in Summer 2027.
