Tilburg Witteveen Memorial Fellowship 2026 in Law and Humanities Available to All

Tilburg University has officially announced the Witteveen Memorial Fellowship in Law and Humanities, inviting applications from promising scholars to take part in this fellowship program. Established in memory of Professor Willem Witteveen (1952–2014), the fellowship continues his legacy of fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between law, literature, rhetoric, politics, and culture.

Witteveen Fellowship Package

The fellowship offers a one-month residency at Tilburg Law School during February–May 2026. Fellows will receive:

  • Shared office space and online library access at Tilburg University.
  • A designated academic contact for support and integration into the research community.
  • Coverage for travel and accommodation expenses within the university’s fiscal possibilities.

Please note that the fellowship does not include a stipend or allowance for other living costs.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be in the final stages of their PhD research or have obtained a PhD within the last five years in the field of law and humanities.
  • Be committed to active participation in the academic life of Tilburg Law School. This includes:
    • Presenting research in a seminar.
    • Teaching a guest class.
    • Contributing to broader intellectual life—past fellows have introduced film screenings, plays, exhibitions, poetry readings, and lecture-performances.
