Swinburne University is inviting applications from international students for its Tuition Fee Scholarship for the 2026 Spring Session, aimed at supporting outstanding research students. The scholarship offers a unique opportunity for prospective international candidates to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Psychology, or Master by Research at one of Australia’s leading universities.

Scholarship Overview

The Tuition Fee Scholarship covers the cost of research tuition fees for up to four years full-time equivalent for doctoral students and up to two years full-time equivalent for research master’s candidates. It is awarded on a case-by-case basis, making it a competitive and prestigious funding option for high-achieving international researchers.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be an international student applying for a research degree at Swinburne University.
  • Seek support from their Principal Supervisor, who must submit an Application for Tuition Fee Scholarship with a justification for the award.
  • Gain approval from the School and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

Additional requirements may be set at the discretion of the School.

Scholarship Conditions

  • Covers tuition fees only (no living stipend).
  • Cannot be transferred to another person or converted into cash.
  • Must begin studies in the scholarship commencement period applied for — deferrals are not allowed.
  • Non-completion within the maximum scholarship period will result in liability for tuition fees beyond the covered duration.
  • Subject to semester-by-semester review by the Swinburne Higher Degrees Research Committee.
  • All university policies, conduct standards, and regulations must be upheld.
