Tulī Takes Flight and Pacific Education Foundation Scholarships 2026

The 2026 application round for the Tulī Takes Flight Scholarships and the Pacific Education Foundation Scholarships is now officially open. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply before the closing date of 5:00 pm, Tuesday, 30 September 2025.

Tulī Takes Flight Scholarships

The Tulī Takes Flight Scholarships were introduced as part of Aotearoa New Zealand’s gesture of goodwill and reconciliation to Pacific communities, following the Government’s 2021 apology for the 1970s Dawn Raids.

These scholarships are designed to remove financial barriers for Pacific learners and help them reach their academic and career potential. A total of 15 scholarships are on offer for 2026, with funding available for:

  • Vocational training
  • Undergraduate degrees
  • Graduate study
  • Postgraduate study, including doctoral level research

Each scholarship is valued at up to $32,000. The program is funded by the Government and administered by the Pacific Education Foundation, with specific awards available for career changers as well as those continuing their studies or training.

Pacific Education Foundation Scholarships

In addition to Tulī, the Pacific Education Foundation Scholarships are available to encourage Pacific students across all fields of study. These scholarships reflect the diversity of the modern Pacific community in Aotearoa and are guided by a dedicated board representing Pacific Island cultures.

For 2026, there are 12 scholarships available, offered in two categories:

  • $5,400 grant for full-time undergraduate study
  • $10,400 grant for full-time postgraduate study.
