Turkish Proficiency Test (TYS) 2025 Registration Open

The Yunus Emre Institute has officially opened applications for the Turkish Proficiency Test (TYS), scheduled to take place on May 4, 2025. This exam is designed for international students and professionals who want to document their Turkish language proficiency. The TYS is the first internationally recognized Turkish language exam to receive ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe) approval, making it a valuable certification for academic and professional opportunities worldwide.

The Turkish Proficiency Test (TYS) is essential for students who plan to study at Turkish universities where proficiency in the Turkish language is a requirement. Many scholarships in Türkiye, including Türkiye Scholarships (Türkiye Bursları) and other university-funded programs, accept the TYS as proof of language proficiency. Obtaining a B2 or C1 Turkish Proficiency Certificate through the TYS enhances eligibility for these scholarships and increases the chances of admission to top institutions in Türkiye.

Candidates who pass the exam will receive a Turkish Proficiency Certificate at B2 or C1 levels, which holds the ALTE Quality Mark (Q-mark). This certification is widely accepted by universities and employers as proof of language competency. The exam assesses four key language skills: reading (40 questions, 75 minutes), listening (30 questions, 60 minutes), writing (two tasks, 60 minutes), and speaking (dialogue and independent speaking, 15 minutes). Since January 15, 2022, the evaluation follows Modern Test Theory, ensuring high accuracy and reliability in scoring.

Applications are open to all non-native Turkish speakers, and there are no age restrictions. It is especially recommended for students planning to study in Türkiye, professionals seeking employment in Turkish-speaking environments, and individuals aiming to enhance their career prospects. The exam will be conducted simultaneously in multiple international locations, including Yunus Emre Institute’s foreign representatives worldwide, as well as in Ankara and Istanbul, Türkiye.

The application period runs from March 10, 2025, to April 4, 2025, and candidates must apply online via sinav.yee.org.tr. For detailed information, visit tys.yee.org.tr.
