Educational Requirements:

    • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).

Field of Study: Preferably in economics, political/international affairs, international relations, business/public administration, law, or related fields.

Skills and Knowledge:

    • Proficient in standard software applications.
    • Knowledge of the transport sector, sustainable development, and/or climate change is an asset.
    • Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
    • Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

Languages: Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French or Russian is desirable.

Responsibilities of the Intern

The selected intern will work under the supervision of the Secretary of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) and will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Research and Analysis: Assist with research, analysis, and drafting of documents for the 87th plenary session of the ITC.
  • Participant Coordination: Help invite participants and speakers, including high-level representatives from governments, international organizations, and the private sector.
  • Event Organization: Support the organization of side-events, involving high-level UN officials and representatives of member states.
  • Communication Management: Assist with the preparation of communication materials and manage the ITC web and social media presence.
  • General Support: Provide ad hoc assistance with other activities related to the preparation and follow-up of the ITC plenary session and its side-events, and support the implementation of the ITC Decarbonization Strategy.
