UNHCR TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship Program Now Open for 2025

The TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship Program—Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s growth and development—is officially open for applications for the 2025/2026 academic year. This powerful initiative offers fully funded Bachelor’s and Master’s scholarships in agriculture and related fields, with a strong focus on entrepreneurship, inclusivity, and climate-resilient food systems.


About the Program

TAGDev 2.0 is a partnership between:

  • The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM)
  • Mastercard Foundation
  • The Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA)
  • 12 leading African universities.

This second phase of the TAGDev initiative continues to focus on revolutionizing agricultural education across the continent by supporting universities and TVET institutions in producing skilled graduates who can lead innovation in agriculture and agri-food systems.


Program Benefits

Selected students will receive:

  • Full tuition coverage
  • Living allowance
  • Research and internship support
  • Entrepreneurship training
  • Academic and career mentorship
  • Support services for students with disabilities, refugees, and internally displaced persons.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a young African under the age of 35
  • Interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture or related fields
  • Strongly encouraged to apply:
    • Refugees
    • Asylum seekers
    • Internally displaced persons (IDPs)
    • Persons with disabilities
    • Women and girls.
