University of Liverpool Offers E. Allison Peers Masters Scholarship 2025

golden opportunity awaits students worldwide passionate about Hispanic, Iberian, and Latin American Studies! The University of Liverpool has officially opened applications for the prestigious E. Allison Peers Masters Scholarship for the 2025–2026 academic year.

This rare award is funded by the E. Allison Peers Bequest, continuing the legacy of a pioneer in Hispanic studies and designed to promote advanced academic research at Liverpool’s renowned Department of Languages, Cultures and Film.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

  • Full tuition fee coverage for any qualifying master’s program
  • A generous £5,000 stipend to help support living and research expenses

Who Was E. Allison Peers?

E. Allison Peers (1891–1952) was the second Gilmour Chair of Spanish at the University of Liverpool and a celebrated academic figure who significantly advanced the discipline of Hispanic studies in the UK.

Eligible Study Areas

Students must focus their Master’s research on Iberian or Latin American Studies, and applications are encouraged from the following study streams:

  • Basque, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese (Brazilian & European), Spanish, and Latin American Studies
  • Comparative or cross-cultural topics are strongly welcomed.

Possible research themes include:

  • Sociolinguistics and minority languages
  • Cultural politics and identity
  • Film, literature, visual and digital culture
  • Memory, gender, and postcolonial studies
  • Diaspora, migration, and conflict resolution.
