The University of Macau (UM) has officially opened applications for its Outstanding Student-Athletes Admission Scheme (OSAAS) for the 2026/2027 academic year (1st Batch, non-local students). This prestigious opportunity is designed for exceptional student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and sports. Applications are open from 1 to 30 November 2025, and a total of 30 admission scholarships are available.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet specific athletic and academic qualifications:
- National Level 1 Athlete (2023–2025) or above for Badminton, Tennis, and Swimming.
- National Level 2 Athlete (2023–2025) or above for other sports.
- For Squash, the National Athlete Grade Certificate is not required.
- Applicants must have ranked Top 8 in International/National Competitions or Top 6 in Provincial Competitions in their respective sports.
- All applicants are required to take the 2026 National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gaokao).
Recruiting Sports
UM is recruiting athletes for the following sports: Badminton, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Dragon Boat, Fencing, Karate, Korfball, Martial Arts, Rock Climbing, Men’s Soccer, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, and Men’s and Women’s Volleyball.
Sports Skill Test Details
- Date: 10–11 January 2026
- Venue: University of Macau
Both the sports skill test and English placement test will take place during this period.
For Admitted Students
While UM does not offer a major in Sports Science, admitted students under OSAAS can freely choose any undergraduate program. However, if the applicant does not meet the academic criteria for their selected program, UM reserves the right to assign an alternative.
Recipients of the scholarship must maintain excellent academic performance, positive attitude, and active participation in university sports events to continue receiving the scholarship benefits throughout their study period.
Application Process
Applicants must complete the online application form during the application period and upload scanned PDF copies of all supporting documents, including award certificates and proof of athletic achievements.
All shortlisted applicants will be notified by 19 December 2025 regarding the results and further details for the sports skill test.
