University of Mary Washington Scholarships for Spring 2025 Admissions
The University of Mary Washington (UMW) has officially opened its admissions portal as of August 1, 2025, inviting students to apply for Fall 2026 enrollment — and bringing with it one of the most exciting funding opportunities for budding scientists across the country: the Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program.
Backed by a historic $36 million gift from the late Irene Piscopo Rodgers ’59 — a trailblazer in electron microscopy — this fellowship is designed to magnify the impact of students passionate about STEM fields. UMW plans to select 15 outstanding first-year students for this elite fellowship in its first year of launch.
Funding Package: What’s in it for You?
Students selected for the Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program will gain access to:

Where Is It Offered?
This scholarship opportunity is offered exclusively at the University of Mary Washington, located in the vibrant city of Fredericksburg, Virginia, strategically nestled between Washington, D.C., and Richmond. The university provides more than 100 majors, minors, and study areas, with strengths in biology, environmental science, chemistry, physics, math, and data science, among many others.
Who Is Eligible?
To be considered for the Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program, students must:
- Apply as first-year undergraduate students for Fall 2026
- Be interested in science-related majors such as medical sciences, biology, chemistry, physics, math, or environmental studies
- Be either in-state or out-of-state applicants (both are welcome!)
Applying early is key — early decision and early action applicants will be given priority consideration.
Application Timeline: Don’t Miss the Deadlines
Applications for Fall 2026 admission at the University of Mary Washington opened on August 1, 2025. Prospective students aiming for priority scholarship consideration, including the Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program, are encouraged to apply early.
The deadline for Early Decision (binding) is November 1, 2025, while Early Action (non-binding) applications are due by November 15, 2025. Regular Decision applicants must submit their materials by February 1, 2026. Transfer students should note the following deadlines: October 15, 2025, for spring enrollment; March 1, 2026, for summer enrollment; and April 1, 2026, for fall enrollment.
