What this opportunity offers?

This is a supplementary scholarship worth USD $2,000, meant to reduce the financial pressure that usually hits hardest near the finish line of a degree—when tuition bills don’t slow down, but savings often do. Applications are accepted across multiple fields, but priority is given to STEM and environmental science. Keep in mind: medical fields, aviation, business administration, and legal study programs are excluded, so applicants in those areas should not apply for this specific scholarship.

Who can apply?

This scholarship is aimed at students who are already deep into their U.S. studies and close to completion. To be eligible, you must be a Latin American or Caribbean student (on an F/J visa) currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. university, and you must be in the last two years of your undergraduate, master’s, or doctorate program.

A key requirement is that you must be eligible for—and applying at the same time for—the Rowe Fund interest-free loan, because the loan and scholarship are reviewed together. Awards are decided based on financial need, academic achievement, and your commitment to contribute to the development of Latin America and the Caribbean—and importantly, even if you qualify for the Rowe Fund loan, it does not automatically guarantee you’ll receive the scholarship.

How to apply?

You apply for the scholarship as part of the Rowe Fund loan process. The interest-free loan application must be submitted through the online platform, while the scholarship application form https://www.oas.org/en/rowefund/ScholarshipConditions.asp. The scholarship form typically includes your educational and career goals, plus any personal or family circumstances that explain your need for support. Only complete applications are evaluated, so missing items can cost you a full month.

Deadline and monthly cutoff

There is no single annual deadline—applications are accepted year-round. However, there is a strict monthly cutoff on the 5th day of each month in 2026.
