World Bank Fully-funded Scholarship 2025 at YNU Japan

The Yokohama National University (YNU), in collaboration with the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP), has announced its Master’s Degree Program in Infrastructure Management (IMP) for the academic session of 2025-2027. This prestigious program, supported by the Government of Japan and administered by the World Bank, aims to equip professionals from developing countries with advanced knowledge and skills in infrastructure management.

Program Highlights

The IMP is designed for government officials and professionals involved in infrastructure policy planning. It integrates engineering, economics, management, and law, preparing students to address global challenges in infrastructure development. The program emphasizes practical and theoretical knowledge, including courses, field excursions, and off-campus training.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will be eligible for the JJ/WBGSP scholarship, which includes:

  • A monthly allowance of approximately JPY 170,000 to JPY 200,000.
  • Coverage for tuition fees, entrance examination fees, and admission fees.
  • Round-trip airfare to and from Japan.
  • Travel allowance for initial relocation.
  • Comprehensive health insurance.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality: Be a national of a World Bank member country eligible for financing. Dual citizens of developed countries are ineligible.
  • Academic Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with superior academic performance earned at least three years before the scholarship application deadline.
  • Work Experience: Have at least three years of recent, full-time professional experience in development-related work after earning a Bachelor’s degree. Exceptions apply for applicants from countries on the World Bank’s “Harmonized List of Fragile Situations.”
  • Health: Be in good health.
  • Exclusions: Not be an Executive Director, staff, or a close relative of World Bank or IMF personnel.

Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents via the online YNU Web Application System:

  • Official Transcripts and Certificate of Graduation.
  • English Proficiency Test Scores (TOEFL/IELTS) or a certificate proving English-medium education.
  • Research Plan (up to six pages detailing objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes).
  • Two Letters of Recommendation, one from a supervisor and one from an academic.
  • Academic Performance Entry Sheet (template provided by YNU).

Important Deadlines

  • Application Deadline: February 20, 2025.
  • Notification of Admission: Successful candidates will receive their letters of admission by July 2025.
