About the World Heritage Scholarship
Established in 2018 by the Regional Assembly in Gävleborg, Sweden, this international scholarship invites artists, researchers, and cultural creators from around the globe to explore and connect the World Heritage site Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland with other UNESCO World Heritage sites. The program aims to foster creative projects with a cultural or research focus tied to UNESCO’s mission of preserving and celebrating world heritage.
Funding Benefits
Selected scholarship holders receive:
- Residency: One month living and working in one or two World Heritage farmhouses in Hälsingland, Sweden.
- Grant: A generous stipend of 50,000 SEK (~4,500 USD) to fund your project.
- Travel and Transportation: Covered travel costs to and from Sweden and access to a car during the residency.
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to:
- International applicants: Cultural creators, artists, or researchers from anywhere in the world.
- Project relevance: Applicants must have a creative or research idea connecting the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland to other UNESCO World Heritage sites.
- Artistic or research focus: Ideas must align with UNESCO’s mission to promote heritage preservation and cultural exchange.
