Zhejiang Normal University CSC Scholarship 2027: MS/PHD Applications Process
A funded postgraduate application needs more than good grades: it needs a convincing academic direction. Zhejiang Normal University’s CSC Scholarship 2027 invites international master’s and PhD applicants to pursue that direction in China through the Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program.
ZJNU’s programme listings reach well beyond teacher education. They include computing, mathematics, environmental science, biology, geography, languages and other fields, with English- and Chinese-taught options. The useful starting question is therefore: which programme can you make a strong academic case for?
For doctoral applicants, that decision also means finding a supervisor willing to support the proposal. For master’s applicants, matching previous study and language evidence to the chosen degree comes first. This guide starts with those decisions, then explains funding, documents and the order of submission.
Opportunity: 2027 CSC High-Level Postgraduate Program; applications invited.
Applicant group: Eligible non-Chinese citizens applying for a master’s or PhD.
Funding: Tuition, on-campus accommodation, stipend and medical insurance support.
Language: Programme-specific Chinese or English evidence.
Application fee: Not specified in the CSC notice; do not assume a university fee waiver.
Timing: Scholarship deadline and second-stage clarification appear in the final section.
Official information checked: 20 October 2026.
Start with the degree you can defend academically
Choose a programme that connects your previous study with a clear next research or professional goal. ZJNU’s master’s listings include English-taught Computer Science and Technology, Mathematics, and Environmental Science and Engineering. Its doctoral listings include English-taught Biology, Geography, Education Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science and Technology.
Chinese-taught listings include subjects such as Chinese Language and Literature, Optical Engineering, Psychology, and Country and Region Studies, depending on degree level. These are programme examples, not a guarantee that every listed option receives a CSC place. Use the university’s 2027 international programme catalogue when selecting your exact course.
The English CSC notice requires master’s applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35; doctoral applicants need a master’s degree and must be under 40. Applicants also need excellent academic performance, a valid ordinary passport, good physical and mental health, and no criminal record or history of drug abuse.
My recommendation is to shortlist by academic fit before university reputation. Write three sentences explaining what you have already studied, what question you want to investigate, and why the chosen department suits it. If those sentences remain vague, develop the match before requesting recommendations.

What would the ZJNU scholarship pay for?
The published package covers tuition, campus accommodation, a stipend and RMB 800 in comprehensive medical insurance. The notice does not specify the stipend amount, so a precise monthly payment should not be presented as a university-confirmed figure.
There is a small additional insurance cost to budget for: the Chinese notice specifies RMB 200 per academic year for third-party liability insurance at the student’s expense. The English page states a minimum insurance requirement of RMB 1,000, with further instructions before enrolment. Keep a separate budget for travel, visa processing and document preparation, which are not listed in this package.
Funding eligibility also differs from winning funding. Use our explanation of CSC and High-Level Postgraduate scholarship competition to focus on the evidence you can improve rather than looking for a guaranteed selection formula.

Build the academic case before collecting the final scans
Your study plan should explain a credible project, supported by your academic record and referees. For a PhD, arrange the required supervisor acceptance letter and supervisor signature on the proposal. A brief encouraging email is not a substitute for the requested document.
I would prioritise doctoral supervisor contact early: send a focused introduction, relevant CV and a concise research idea showing why that professor’s work fits your project. Give the professor something specific to evaluate.
Use this checklist to separate documents that need academic input from records with limited validity.
| Application evidence | What to prepare |
|---|---|
| Academic records | Notarised highest diploma, or official student-status evidence if graduating; transcripts from undergraduate study onward; required translations. |
| Study plan and references | A Chinese- or English-language plan exceeding 1,000 characters or words, as the English notice specifies; two professor or associate-professor recommendations. |
| Language and doctoral support | Valid HSK or the relevant English-language evidence; doctoral supervisor acceptance and signed proposal. |
| Identity and time-sensitive records | Passport, CSC form, completed physical examination valid for six months, and police clearance normally issued within six months of submission. |
| Conditional materials | Art/design work where applicable; legal guardian documents for applicants under 18. |
For an English proposal, aim comfortably above 1,000 words and make the research question, method and intended contribution easy to follow. Integrate the research proposal into the requested study plan rather than assuming these must be two separate uploads. For medical-document preparation, use our Foreigner Physical Examination Form guide.

Submit to CSC first, then follow ZJNU’s review instructions
The published sequence starts with CSC and moves to the university application after preliminary review. Keep the same programme choice and accurate personal details across both submissions.
- Settle the programme and evidence. Read the official ZJNU CSC notice and obtain the 2027 catalogue through its Academics/Programs navigation. Match the course language and academic requirements.
- Submit the CSC application. Register through Campus China, select Type B, enter ZJNU agency number 10345, and upload the required evidence.
- Watch for preliminary-review email. Successful preliminary applicants are instructed to complete the ZJNU online application. Follow the current instructions and any fee requirements supplied for your case.
- Respond to the review. Keep email accessible and provide requested corrections or assessment materials promptly. A submitted form or supervisor’s support does not itself establish a scholarship award.

Questions to settle before pressing submit
Can I apply before my current degree is awarded?
Yes, prospective graduates may submit official evidence of current student status. Make your expected completion date clear so reviewers can assess your progression to the proposed degree.
Does an English-taught programme mean no language test?
No automatic exemption is stated in the CSC notice. It names IELTS, TOEFL and Duolingo as examples of evidence, with requirements determined by the programme; do not assume an English-medium certificate alone will be accepted.
Do interview experiences from language-course applicants apply to CSC postgraduates?
They are not a reliable guide to your postgraduate assessment. Prepare to explain your own academic work and proposed project, and follow the assessment instructions sent for your programme.

Zhejiang Normal University CSC 2027 deadline and your next move
The last date to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program at Zhejiang Normal University is 20 February 2027.
The notice still contains an outdated second-stage university deadline of 28 February 2026. Do not change that year yourself: shortlisted applicants should obtain the applicable university-stage deadline from the International Student Office at [email protected].
Your next three moves are practical: choose the exact programme and teaching language, start the slowest academic document or supervisor request, and draft the research case that connects your previous work with your proposed ZJNU degree.
