Obama Foundation Voyager Scholarship 2025-2027
The Obama Foundation has announced the opening of applications for the 2025-2027 Voyager Scholarship, also known as the Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service. This prestigious program, funded by Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky’s $100 million contribution, empowers 100 college students pursuing careers in public service by providing financial support, travel opportunities, and access to a global network of leaders.
Benefits of the Voyager Scholarship
Selected students benefit from an array of transformative opportunities and financial assistance:
- Financial Aid:
Students receive up to $50,000 in “last dollar” financial aid—$25,000 per year for their junior and senior years of college—to reduce the burden of college debt and allow them to pursue public service careers after graduation. - Summer Voyage:
Between their junior and senior years, students design and embark on a Summer Voyage, receiving a $10,000 stipend and free housing through Airbnb listings. This unique work-travel experience helps students explore new communities and deepen expertise in their chosen fields. - 10-Year Travel Stipend:
Graduates receive an annual $2,000 travel credit from Airbnb for ten years, enabling them to grow their networks and skills, totaling $20,000 in travel support. - Mentorship and Programming:
Scholars participate in monthly virtual sessions, including speaker series, mentorship roundtables, and workshops, ensuring continuous learning and development. - Fall Summit:
During their junior year, participants attend an in-person summit where they engage in leadership activities, network with fellow Voyagers, and learn from public service leaders. - Global Network:
The scholarship provides access to a robust network of leaders, including fellow Voyagers, Obama Leadership Network alumni, and mentors. Graduates join the Obama Foundation’s global community for continued support and resources.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a college junior in the United States or its territories during the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to public service and leadership.
The scholarship aims to support students from diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented communities.
Application Deadline
The last date to apply for the Voyager Scholarship for Public Service is April 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM Central Time (UTC-6). Applications for financial assistance are also due by the same date.
