Who Can Apply?
You’re eligible if you are:
- A citizen of a country listed in the OECD/DAC list of ODA recipients (except China)
- 18 to 40 years old (as of August 25, 2025)
- A university student (junior college, technical, or higher education) or a graduate
- Not currently residing in Japan
- Able to communicate in English or Japanese (JLPT N3 or above recommended)
- Eager to build a career or network with Japanese companies
- Have NOT participated in this program between FY2016–FY2024.

1# Online Internship

- Work remotely from your home country
- Tech support provided
- Daily allowance: Equivalent of ¥1,000 per day.
2# In-Person Internship in Japan

- Round-trip airfare (Economy class)
- Free travel insurance & visa support
- Daily allowance: ¥3,000 per day
- Free training, phone, housing & local transportation.
Required Duties of METI Interns in 2025

- Participate in a project-based internship at a Japanese SME
- Gain exposure to Japanese innovation, culture, and management style
- Attend online and in-person career development trainings
- Present your results and build a global network
