EHRI ERIC Conny Kristel Fellowships 2025 Available

International researchers, historians, archivists, and early-career professionals with a focus on Holocaust studies—this is your moment. The prestigious Conny Kristel Fellowship Programme 2025, organized by the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI-ERIC), is now officially open for applications.

What’s the Opportunity?

The Conny Kristel Fellowship enables selected applicants to conduct vital Holocaust-related research at leading archives and institutions in countries such as Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Romania, the UK, and the Czech Republic. The program is named in honor of Conny Kristel, a historian who contributed significantly to the field of Holocaust research and EHRI’s development.

Fellows are encouraged to engage in research projects exploring all aspects of the Holocaust: its origins, impacts, aftermath, and the long-standing effects of antisemitism. Projects dealing with archival accessibility and management are also welcome.

This year’s fellowship is especially open to early-career researchers, including PhD students, although applicants at all career stages are encouraged to apply.

What’s Covered?

  • Stipend covering housing and living costs in the host country
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses to and from the host institution(s)
  • Access to archival collections, libraries, research facilities, and workspaces
  • Flexibility in fellowship duration: 1 to 6 weeks stay, with optional extension at own expense
  • Option to combine multiple institutions in one fellowship application
  • Fellows are not required to submit usage reports for their allowance

Fellows must organize their own travel and visa (if needed), and ensure availability before 31 December 2026, when all tenures must be completed.

Where Can You Go?

You can choose from dozens of host institutions, including:

  • Germany: Arolsen Archives, Federal Archives, Center for Holocaust Studies in Munich
