Switzerland Research Fellowship 2026 for Humanities Scholars in Ascona

The Archivio Luigi Pericle in Ascona and the Dahlem Humanities Center (DHC) at Freie Universität Berlin are offering a unique Research Fellowship for the year 2026. This program allows one scholar to dive deep into cultural, historical, and artistic themes while enjoying the serene backdrop of the Swiss Alps.
Fellowship Package & Benefits
The selected fellow will be warmly welcomed at Archivio Luigi Pericle/Hotel Ascona for a residency of up to 6 weeks starting March 1, 2026. The package includes:
- Room and board at Hotel Ascona
- Stipend of 600 CHF

Access to valuable archival materials, fostering research in areas such as Monte Verità, utopian communities, Luigi Pericle’s art, philosophy, theosophy, and cultural movements of the early modern to 20th century.

Please note that travel expenses are not covered. However, postdoctoral researchers from Freie Universität Berlin can apply for additional travel support of up to €500, funded by the Ernst-Reuter-Gesellschaft.

- Where? Archivio Luigi Pericle, Ascona, Switzerland – a place renowned for its rich cultural and artistic heritage.
- When? The fellowship begins March 1, 2026 and can last for a maximum of 6 weeks.
Who Can Apply?
This fellowship is open to:
- Postdoctoral researchers and senior scholars (professors) in the humanities.
- Applicants must be employed at Freie Universität Berlin – specifically in:
- The Department of Philosophy and Humanities
- The Department of History and Cultural Studies
- One of the central institutes (LAI, JFKI, OEI).
