Additional financial note

  • Successful recipients must pay first-year full fees or a NZ$500 contribution within two weeks of the award to secure the scholarship.


Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

Massey University is seeking academically capable international students who are beginning their first qualification at the university in July 2026.

To be eligible for the Toroa Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be an international student
  • Be new to Massey University
  • Enrol full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree starting Semester 2 (July 2026)
  • Study on campus in New Zealand (onshore study required)
  • Be enrolled in the first 120 credits of their degree
  • Hold the equivalent of a New Zealand B grade or higher in their previous qualification
  • Submit a scholarship application through the Massey Student Portal

Important exclusions:

  • Graduate diploma and doctoral applicants are not eligible for the postgraduate Toroa scholarship

Selection is based primarily on academic merit.
