2027 Spring Scholarship Admissions at National Tsing Hua University Announced – Lets Apply

Can International Students Get Full Tuition + Monthly Stipend at NTHU Taiwan for Spring 2027?

If you want to study in Taiwan from Spring 2027, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) has opened international admissions for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD applicants—and the university scholarship can make the offer considerably more attractive.

Applications are accepted from 3 August to 30 September 2026, while admission results are expected by 1 December 2026.

The important part is understanding the funding correctly: NTHU offers both full tuition scholarships and tuition-plus-stipend awards, but the financial package differs by degree level.

Who Can Apply for Spring 2027 Scholarship Admission at NTHU?

Foreign students can apply according to Taiwan’s international-student admission rules. Academically, the progression is simple: a high-school diploma qualifies you for Bachelor’s programmes, a Bachelor’s degree for Master’s admission, and a Master’s degree for PhD study.

NTHU offers programmes across science, engineering, computing, life sciences, humanities, education and other fields. Many graduate programmes are fully or sufficiently taught in English, although applicants must check the language classification and individual departmental requirements before choosing a programme.

How Much Scholarship Can You Receive on 2027 NTHU Scholarship?

For Bachelor’s and Master’s students, the Type A scholarship covers tuition, miscellaneous fees and credit fees and adds a NT$5,000 monthly living allowance. Type B covers the same academic fees but does not include the monthly stipend. Bachelor’s awards run for one academic year and require reapplication, while Master’s funding may continue for two academic years subject to renewal performance.

PhD funding at NTHU for spring 2027 batch is considerably stronger.

Eligible doctoral students in science, engineering, nuclear science, life sciences and medicine, electrical engineering and computer science, technology management, education and certain interdisciplinary programmes can receive full tuition coverage plus NT$20,000–40,000 per month. Part of that amount comes from the Office of Global Affairs and part from the department or supervisor.

Humanities and Social Sciences PhD students under the specified scholarship route receive full tuition coverage plus NT$10,000 per month.

So this is not one flat scholarship—the value depends heavily on your degree and academic unit.

Do You Need IELTS to apply for admission at NTHU in 2027?

NTHU’s university-level minimum English requirement is relatively accessible: IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEIC 750, or TOEFL iBT 71 under the legacy scale, with CEFR B2 also accepted. TOEFL Home Edition and ITP are not accepted under the general rule.

You may avoid submitting a test score if your previous degree was fully taught in English and your university provides an official statement, or if you meet another listed exemption.

However, individual departments can impose higher scores, so 5.5 should never be assumed sufficient for every NTHU programme.

What Documents Should You Prepare for NTHU Scholarship?

The core application includes your diploma, academic transcripts, statement of purpose, two recommendation letters, nationality/passport documentation and financial evidence.

Master’s and PhD applicants should prepare a one- to three-page statement of purpose explaining their motivation for choosing NTHU and the intended programme.

There is also a financial-proof requirement: applicants must normally show at least NT$120,000 or US$4,000 in available funds, or provide proof of an already granted scholarship.

That financial statement is required even if you intend to compete for the NTHU scholarship—the scholarship application itself cannot substitute for proof of funds.

How Do You Apply for the Scholarship?

There is no separate complicated scholarship portal.

Complete the NTHU international admission application and, under the Personal Information section, simply select “Apply for NTHU International Student Scholarship.” Scholarship results are expected around mid-December 2026.

One exception matters: applicants to the College of Semiconductor Research cannot apply for the general NTHU International Student Scholarship and should check that college’s own funding arrangements instead.

What Does It Cost to Apply?

NTHU charges NT$2,000 for one or two programme applications and NT$4,000 for three or four. Applicants holding nationality from countries classified by the UN as Least Developed Countries are exempt from the application fee.

NTHU Spring 2027 Deadline

The last date to submit a complete international application is 30 September 2026 before 3:00 PM Taiwan time (GMT+8). Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

That final point matters because your recommenders must submit their letters before the deadline; otherwise, the system may prevent you from completing the application.

Should You Apply?

NTHU Spring 2027 is particularly attractive for applicants who want English-accessible STEM or research programmes in Taiwan with the possibility of tuition coverage and monthly support.

For Master’s applicants, the stipend is modest. For eligible PhD applicants, however, NT$20,000–40,000 per month plus full tuition coverage makes the scholarship substantially more competitive.

Before applying, check three things: whether your exact programme is open for Spring 2027, whether its language requirement is higher than the university minimum, and which scholarship category applies to your college.

If those three points line up, this is an opportunity worth preparing properly rather than submitting as a last-minute application.
