TaiwanICDF Fully Funded Scholarship 2027 for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD Admissions
International applicants from eligible TaiwanICDF partner countries can prepare now for the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship 2027, one of Taiwan’s more comprehensive government-backed funding routes for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD study.
The 2027 application window is scheduled to run from 1 December 2026 to 15 March 2027, but nationality and programme restrictions mean this is not a scholarship that every international applicant can use.

Is TaiwanICDF Open to Every International Student?
No. Nationality is one of the first eligibility checks applicants should make.
The TaiwanICDF scholarship primarily supports students from eligible partner and friendly developing countries. Applicants generally need to be citizens of a country included in the relevant TaiwanICDF scholarship arrangements and must also satisfy the admission requirements of their chosen university programme.
This creates two separate hurdles:
TaiwanICDF scholarship eligibility + university admission eligibility.
Meeting the scholarship nationality requirement does not automatically guarantee university admission.
What Does the TaiwanICDF Scholarship Actually Cover?
TaiwanICDF is legitimately described as a fully funded scholarship because its package extends well beyond tuition.
Selected students receive support covering round-trip economy airfare, university tuition and academic fees, accommodation, insurance and approved textbook expenses.
A monthly living allowance is also provided:
- Bachelor’s students: NT$15,000
- Master’s students: NT$18,000
- PhD students: NT$20,000
The allowance is intended to help students meet normal living and food expenses while studying in Taiwan. Applicants should nevertheless remember that personal spending beyond the scholarship package remains their responsibility.
Can You Choose Any University in Taiwan?
No. TaiwanICDF funding is linked to designated programmes at participating Taiwanese universities. The scholarship operates through the Taiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA), meaning applicants must select a programme included in the applicable TaiwanICDF programme list.
You cannot secure admission to an unrelated Taiwanese university and then request TaiwanICDF funding afterward. For this reason, the 2027 programme list should be one of the first documents applicants review once the new cycle documentation becomes available.
Who May Be Ineligible?
Applicants generally must not hold Taiwanese nationality or overseas-Chinese student status and must be able to obtain the required Taiwanese student visa and residence documentation.
Restrictions may also affect applicants who previously had a Taiwan government scholarship revoked, were dismissed from a Taiwanese institution, or already hold another Taiwan government-funded scholarship for the same academic year.
Applicants should check these rules before investing significant time in university documents.
What Makes a Strong TaiwanICDF Application?
A strong application should explain more than why you want to study in Taiwan. TaiwanICDF is intended to develop skilled professionals who can contribute to development in participating countries. Your application therefore becomes more convincing when it connects:
your previous education → a genuine development challenge in your country → the skills offered by the Taiwanese programme → how you intend to use those skills afterward.
This connection is particularly important for graduate applicants presenting professional or research goals.
How Do You Apply?
Applications are completed through the TaiwanICDF online application system. Applicants should carefully enter their personal and academic information, choose an eligible programme and submit all required material accurately.
Another important step is that applications are generally processed through the relevant Taiwan embassy, representative office or designated channel, which may provide recommendations before final selection by TaiwanICDF and participating universities.
Successful candidates are generally informed around early June, followed by confirmation and arrival preparations during the following months.
TaiwanICDF Scholarship 2027 Deadline
Applications for the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship 2027 will run from 1 December 2026 until 15 March 2027.
Applicants preparing now should first confirm nationality eligibility, identify a participating degree programme that genuinely matches their academic background and start developing a clear explanation of how the qualification could be applied after returning home.
For TaiwanICDF, the strongest case is not simply “I want a fully funded degree in Taiwan.” It is showing why this particular training is relevant to both your career and a genuine need in your country.
I need the scholarship application, please.
