Scholarships in 2027 (Bachelor, Master, PhD) for International Students

Global MINDS MS Scholarship 2027–2029 Applications Open: Countries, Costs and Application Guide

Why do some communities welcome newcomers while others exclude them? The Global-MINDS MSc in the Psychology of Global Mobility, Inclusion and Diversity in Society turns that question into advanced study across European universities. Applications for 2027–2029 are open, with routes connecting Portugal or Poland to Ireland.

There is a major funding change: Erasmus+ scholarship support has ended, and Global-MINDS is self-funded from 2027. If the academic fit interests you, this guide explains the costs, country routes, entry evidence and application sequence before you commit.

Global-MINDS 2027: study plans and funding reality
Status
Open; September 2027 entry.
Audience
All nationalities; substantial psychology background required.
Degree
Two-year, full-time MSc with international mobility.
Funding and fee
Self-funded; €50 application fee.
English and timing
Language evidence required; conflicting closing dates explained in the deadline section.
Official information checked
1 November 2026; fee and deadline discrepancies identified.

01 What would you need to finance?

You must finance participation, living and travel costs yourself unless you secure independent external funding. The programme website quotes these totals:

Nationality category Two-year participation costs
EU €9,400
Non-EU €18,600

UL instead lists €4,500 for EU students and €9,000 for non-EU students per year, with second-year fees subject to change. I would obtain a written total before accepting or paying. External awards are separate and unguaranteed; applicants needing funding can compare our Erasmus Mundus programme guide.

02 Your European classroom: which country comes first?

Start in Portugal or Poland, then continue in Ireland. Global-MINDS offers two pathways for 2027–2029. Choose the academic focus that connects most closely with your interests, then rank your preferences in the application.

PATH A · SEMESTER 1

🇵🇹 Portugal

Lisbon · ISCTE

Culture & Diversity

Explore prejudice, discrimination, intercultural contact and how people relate to groups within increasingly diverse societies.

Your next stop: University of Limerick, Ireland, for semester two.

PATH C · SEMESTER 1

🇵🇱 Poland

Warsaw · SWPS University

Inclusion & Health

Examine how migration, acculturation and cultural differences intersect with inclusion, health psychology and wellbeing.

Your next stop: University of Limerick, Ireland, for semester two.

BOTH PATHS · SEMESTER 2

🇮🇪 Ireland

Limerick · University of Limerick

Develop Your Chosen Focus

Continue through community and political psychology on Path A, or migration, inclusion and health on Path C.

Build towards: the research skills needed for your internship and master’s thesis.

Year two combines a student-arranged 300-hour internship and an empirical thesis. Students may remain at Limerick or return to their first university, depending on their study arrangements.

Before choosing: Path B is no longer offered from 2027. Programme and pathway operation depend on sufficient enrolment; Path A also depends on ISCTE’s local programme opening.

03 Does your academic preparation match the MSc?

The standard entry route is an honours psychology bachelor’s degree equivalent to Irish NFQ Level 8, with at least a 2:2. Applicants need at least 100 ECTS in psychology or equivalent psychology and research-methods experience. UL assesses overseas qualifications for equivalence, so a local GPA should not be treated as an automatic Irish-grade equivalent.

UL’s standard Academic IELTS requirement is 6.5 overall, with no component below 6.0; alternatives include Duolingo 120, with components at least 110. English certificates must be within two years. An English-medium degree does not automatically qualify for a waiver in every country.

04 Build one application through the University of Limerick

Apply through UL for programme code MSPSGMTFAD. Follow this sequence:

  1. Review the current rules. Read Global-MINDS applications, costs and funding and mobility arrangements.
  2. Prepare your uploads. Gather transcripts and certificates, passport or birth certificate, English evidence, and a Europass CV with reference details. Provide official English translations where needed.
  3. Write the supporting statement. Use the 2027 template on UL’s entry-requirements page; the older programme-site download is broken. I recommend connecting relevant research or volunteering to your chosen path; our SOP writing guide can help structure your reasoning.
  4. Submit and pay. Enter through UL’s Apply page, create an account, upload documents and pay €50 through the portal, not TransferMate. Review UL’s English rules before submitting.

Monitor email for interview requests and the decision. Accepted applicants must enrol and pay part of their tuition to secure their place.

05 Avoid applying with last year’s assumptions

Do not budget around an Erasmus Mundus stipend, select discontinued Path B, or assume documents can be freely changed after submission. The portal normally reopens only when the graduate school requests missing material.

06 Five questions worth settling before submission

Can final-year students apply?

Yes. Submit enrolment evidence, available transcripts and your expected completion date. Admission remains conditional on graduating before enrolment.

Can a different bachelor’s subject qualify?

Possibly, with the required equivalent psychology and research-methods background. This advanced programme is unsuitable as a first introduction to psychology.

Must referees send letters immediately?

The initial checklist requests reference details in your CV. Global-MINDS says it will contact applicants if recommendation letters are needed.

Is there an age or nationality restriction?

Applicants from all countries may apply, and there is no age limit. Academic and English conditions still apply.

Is accommodation guaranteed?

No. Programme guidance says reserved housing cannot guarantee every student a room. Include accommodation in your own budget and arrangements.

07 Which closing date should you work towards?

Submit by 26 February 2027 to meet the earlier published cutoff.

The University of Limerick lists 26 February 2027, while Global-MINDS lists 27 February 2027. Until clarified, use the earlier date. Applications opened on 26 October 2026, with responses expected in March 2027.
