Nanjing Forestry University Silk Road Scholarship 2027 Process Explained
Nanjing Forestry University in China has begun its 2027–2028 Chinese Government Scholarship “Silk Road” project round for full-time master’s and doctoral training. The programme aims to develop expertise for Belt and Road partner countries in fields such as green development, artificial intelligence, energy and finance. NJFU’s current notice invites its colleges to design projects; it does not announce a personal student application window.
For a prospective applicant, this is a useful preparation signal. Which nationalities and majors will receive places, and what can you do before recruitment is announced? This guide explains the project’s priorities, the documents worth preparing and the separate NJFU postgraduate scholarship route already available to students.
Internal project proposals are open. This notice does not open student applications.

Each project may propose up to 5 majors and 10 source countries; NJFU’s selected lists are not announced here.
Individual Silk Road award amounts and benefits are not specified in this notice.
NJFU selects one project for national review. See who owns each deadline.

01 What is NJFU preparing under the Silk Road scholarship?
NJFU is seeking a targeted postgraduate training project linked to Belt and Road development needs. The national priorities are green development, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, energy, taxation, finance, disaster reduction and teacher training. These are priority areas, rather than a confirmed NJFU course catalogue.
The CSC’s attached 2027 project guide requires each proposed major to support one or two of those priorities. Projects select majors within one broad disciplinary category and choose target countries from the official Belt and Road country scope. Your eventual eligibility will depend on the approved project’s actual country and programme choices.
For your research planning, connect an academic interest to a specific problem you want to investigate. A clear question about sustainable production or digital applications will help you judge whether a later advertised programme suits your aims.

02 Can students apply for an NJFU scholarship now?
Yes: NJFU has a separate 2027–2028 High-Level Postgraduate scholarship call with a published student application procedure. Its requirements belong to that route. Use this comparison before choosing which announcement to follow.
| NJFU scholarship route | What the current notice establishes | Your useful next action |
|---|---|---|
| Silk Road, 2027–2028 | Colleges are proposing a targeted project. Student countries, majors, individual funding terms and the student deadline are not set out in this notice. | Prepare your academic case and follow the approved project’s recruitment announcement. |
| High-Level Postgraduate, 2027–2028 | A student application route is published, with tuition, accommodation, stipend and insurance support, plus a CNY 400 non-refundable application fee. | Read the official High-Level Postgraduate guide, match a listed programme and follow its university-first submission sequence. |
My recommendation is to choose by the published eligibility and programme fit, rather than the scholarship label. If the High-Level Postgraduate route suits you, you can act on its current instructions while Silk Road project selection proceeds.

03 What can you prepare before Silk Road student recruitment?
Prepare reusable academic evidence now, while leaving final Silk Road eligibility and uploads to the student call. The current project notice does not provide an individual applicant checklist, English-test minimum, application fee or award package.
- Academic records: Gather your degree evidence, latest transcripts and a concise CV. This is recommended preparation, not a newly announced Silk Road upload requirement.
- Research direction: Draft a short explanation of your academic background, the problem you want to study and how postgraduate training could help you address it.
- Language planning: The CSC project guide sets at least HSK Level 4 for Chinese-taught postgraduate recruitment; universities may impose higher requirements. English-taught projects must specify suitable English ability, but this Silk Road notice gives no IELTS or TOEFL score.
I would prioritise your research outline and academic records over collecting short-validity certificates. Wait for the actual submission rules before timing a medical examination or police certificate. You can compare other international scholarship opportunities on DAADScholarship.com while preparing.

04 Who submits the Silk Road project application?
NJFU colleges submit the current Silk Road proposal; prospective students do not complete the institutional project form. The process described in the university notice is:
- College proposal. Interested NJFU colleges complete the 2027 Silk Road project application form and email the institutional package to [email protected]. The university requires the subject to identify the college and the 2027–2028 Silk Road project materials.
- University selection. NJFU organises expert review and selects one project to submit. Its College of International Education works with the lead unit on the proposal and presentation materials.
- National assessment. CSC reviews institutional proposals through document assessment and a defence stage. The Ministry of Education determines approved projects and scholarship quotas.
- Student action. Use the relevant student recruitment notice when it is published, including its approved nationalities, majors, funding and submission instructions. The present institutional form does not replace a student application.
For the separate High-Level Postgraduate route, NJFU’s published sequence begins with programme selection, supervisor acceptance and the university application. Qualified applicants subsequently complete the CSC stage. Follow that guide’s own document, fee and timing rules.

05 Which NJFU scholarship details must you keep separate?
Keep institutional project approval, student admission and scholarship selection separate. Three details are especially easy to misread:
- The departmental deadline is not your student deadline. It governs colleges submitting proposals to NJFU.
- Priority fields are not guaranteed degree places. An interest in AI or finance alone does not establish that NJFU’s selected Silk Road project will include your preferred major.
- Another scholarship’s terms do not establish Silk Road terms. Use the funding, language evidence, fee and application sequence published for the exact route you select.

06 What else should prospective Silk Road applicants know?
Does one NJFU project mean only one student can win?
No. The limit concerns the university’s project submission, not an individual award. The Ministry of Education ultimately determines approved projects and scholarship quotas, so this notice cannot establish how many students will receive funding.
Can an existing Silk Road project continue recruiting?
Yes, the notice permits projects within their approved implementation period to recruit under their approval conditions. That provision does not itself publish a student application window; applicants still need the relevant project’s recruitment instructions.
Do “long-term” and “short-term” refer to your degree length?
No. These labels describe the institutional project’s implementation and review arrangements. Long-term projects can receive continuing support subject to annual review, while short-term projects require annual applications; neither label establishes the duration of your own degree.

07 Which NJFU scholarship deadlines apply to you?
The NJFU notice does not announce a student application deadline for the 2027–2028 Silk Road project. Its institutional deadlines must not be presented as student closing dates.
NJFU college proposals: Submit electronically by 13 November 2026 at 17:00, according to the official NJFU Silk Road notice.
University submission to CSC: Institutional materials must arrive by 8 March 2027 at 17:00 Beijing time (UTC+8). The attached CSC notice specifies receipt by that deadline.
Separate High-Level Postgraduate route: NJFU’s published guide requires student applications and materials before 21 February 2027. That date belongs to the High-Level Postgraduate programme, not this Silk Road project notice.
Your next move depends on the route: prepare for the approved Silk Road student call, or work through the separate High-Level Postgraduate application if its current programmes fit your plans. Keep the exact award name beside your checklist so the two processes remain clear.
