China Government Scholarships 2027-2028

Scholarships 2027 at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunication (NJUPT-CSC Scholarship)

Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications has opened its 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship “High Level Postgraduate” Program in China, offering international applicants funded master’s and doctoral study. From artificial intelligence and computing to communications and business administration, the call combines specialist postgraduate education with support for tuition, accommodation, living expenses and medical insurance.

For someone ready to build on a degree or develop a research question, that support can make a substantial difference. The first choice is your programme and its teaching language: NJUPT’s four listed master’s programmes are taught in English, while its doctoral options have a more selective language mix. An English-taught master’s in Artificial Intelligence does not mean an English-taught PhD in the same subject is available.

The application also changes with your study level. Do you need a professor’s acceptance before submitting, and is the university application enough? This guide explains those differences, the evidence NJUPT expects and the two online submissions required to put your scholarship application forward.

01 Which NJUPT programmes can you study with the scholarship?

NJUPT lists four two-year master’s programmes in English and four-year PhD routes in English or Chinese. Choose from this scholarship catalogue rather than assuming every university degree is eligible.

  • English-taught master’s: Electronic Information; Computer Technology; Artificial Intelligence; Business Administration.
  • English-taught PhD: Information and Communication Engineering.
  • Chinese-taught PhD: Information and Communication Engineering; Electronic Information; Electronic Science and Technology; Cyberspace Security; Control Science and Engineering; Optical Engineering; Mathematics; Physics; Management Science and Engineering.

My recommendation is to settle the teaching language before preparing your research case: it determines both your available programme and the language certificate you need. If your field falls outside this catalogue, explore other international scholarship opportunities on DAADScholarship.com.

02 What does the NJUPT CSC Scholarship pay for?

The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, living expenses and comprehensive medical insurance. The published CSC monthly stipend standard is CNY 3,000 for master’s students and CNY 3,500 for doctoral students. NJUPT’s brochure confirms living support without restating those amounts.

You must budget separately for international travel, which NJUPT expressly excludes, and the non-refundable application fee. Funding cannot be combined with another new-student scholarship from the Chinese government, a local government or the admitting institution.

03 Who qualifies for NJUPT’s 2027 postgraduate scholarship?

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health, with strong academic results and the appropriate previous degree. The brochure’s English-language eligibility rules specify:

  • Master’s applicants: Hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 when applying.
  • PhD applicants: Hold a master’s degree and be under 40 when applying.
  • English-taught programmes: Provide IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 120, as listed by NJUPT.
  • Chinese-taught programmes: Provide a valid HSK Level 5 or higher report.

The Chinese text describes the age ceilings as normally no more than 35 and 40, while the English version says “under”. If you are exactly at either limit, obtain NJUPT’s written eligibility ruling before paying. The call does not publish a universal minimum GPA or percentage. If you are completing your degree, NJUPT permits official student-status or expected-graduation evidence at application; prepare that document alongside your latest transcript.

04 Which documents does NJUPT require?

You need academic, language, research and identity documents, with additional supervisor evidence for a PhD. Use the checklist below to separate documents you can request now from records whose validity depends on when you submit.

Document What to prepare for NJUPT
CSC form and passport Complete the scholarship form in Chinese or English. Supply your passport information page; NJUPT requires more than one year’s validity, extending beyond November 2027.
Degree evidence Provide your notarized highest diploma. If you are still studying, submit official student-status or expected-graduation evidence from your university.
Academic transcripts Include university-issued, stamped records from undergraduate study onwards, through the latest semester. Provide Chinese or English records; other-language records need notarized English translations.
Language certificate Upload the relevant English test report or a valid HSK certificate for your chosen teaching language.
Study plan Write more than 3,000 English words or Chinese characters, using NJUPT’s template. A PhD applicant’s plan must carry the NJUPT supervisor’s signature.
Research evidence Submit published papers and representative research achievements. If you have no research achievements, NJUPT asks for your graduation thesis.
Two recommendation letters Use professors or associate professors. Letters must be in Chinese or English on university letterhead, signed and dated within the past year, with each referee’s position, title and contact details. They should assess your study aims, abilities and potential, including relevant academic cooperation.
Medical and police records Submit the English-language Foreigner Physical Examination Form, covering every required item, with the doctor’s signature, hospital stamp and sealed photograph; keep the original. Medical results are valid for six months. The police clearance should normally be issued within six months before submission.
Additional PhD document Obtain the NJUPT Provisional Acceptance Letter from your prospective supervisor. This is separate from the university’s later pre-admission notice.

I would prioritise the supervisor conversation if you are applying for a PhD: NJUPT requires both provisional acceptance and a signed study plan. Share a focused research outline early enough to discuss its fit and revise the full proposal.

05 How do you apply for the NJUPT CSC Scholarship 2027?

Submit to both the China Scholarship Council system and NJUPT’s International Student Service System. Completing one application does not replace the other.

  1. Prepare the NJUPT application package. Read the official 2027 scholarship brochure, which supplies the supervisor directory, acceptance-letter form and medical-form links. Use the NJUPT study-plan template referenced in the call. PhD applicants should obtain the supervisor’s acceptance and plan signature before submitting.
  2. Submit the CSC scholarship application. Register through Campus China, select Program Category Type B and enter NJUPT’s Agency Number 10293. Complete the scholarship information and retain the application form for your document package.
  3. Submit to NJUPT and pay the fee. In the NJUPT International Student Service System, select “Chinese Government Scholarship”, complete your application and upload the required documents. Pay CNY 800 inside this system; the fee is not refunded whether or not you are admitted.
  4. Complete the university assessment. NJUPT invites qualified applicants to academic interviews and issues pre-admission letters to successful interview candidates. It then recommends candidates to CSC for the final review, and NJUPT communicates the resulting admission decisions.

My recommendation is to retain both submission confirmations and the fee receipt, with matching programme and passport details across your applications. For the stipend figures above, the CSC funding guidance reproduced on StudyChina provides the national rates.

06 What else should NJUPT scholarship applicants know?

These questions address the decisions that can remain after you have chosen a programme and prepared the two submissions.

Can an English-medium degree replace IELTS at NJUPT?

An automatic English-medium waiver is not stated in the 2027 brochure. IELTS is not the only option because TOEFL and Duolingo are also listed; if you intend to submit only a medium-of-instruction letter, obtain NJUPT’s written approval first.

Can I use the accommodation support to rent privately?

The brochure confirms accommodation funding but does not specify permission to rent privately or a private-rental allowance. Ask NJUPT’s International Student Admission Office for written approval and the applicable funding arrangement before committing to a rental.

Does NJUPT pre-admission mean I have won the CSC Scholarship?

No. NJUPT’s pre-admission and recommendation are intermediate stages; CSC conducts the final eligibility and academic assessment. Wait for the university’s notification of the CSC outcome before treating the scholarship as awarded.

Can I change my major after receiving the scholarship?

No: the brochure prohibits changing the host university, major or study duration after the award. Choose a programme you are prepared to complete; recipients must also register on time and participate in annual scholarship reviews.

07 When is the NJUPT CSC Scholarship 2027 deadline?

The last date to apply for the 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship “High Level Postgraduate” Program offered by Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications is 28 February 2027. Applications are open under the published call. The brochure does not specify a closing hour or time zone, so complete both online submissions before the final day.

NJUPT plans academic interviews in March 2027. Successful interview candidates receive university pre-admission letters before CSC’s final assessment; no final award-notification date is stated in the brochure.

Start with three moves: choose your exact programme and teaching language, request the document likely to take longest, and begin a study plan that explains what you want to investigate at NJUPT. Time your medical and police records around your intended submission so they remain valid.
