BUCT China (BS, MS, PhD) Scholarships 2027: CSC, Silkroad, Presidential Scholarships All Open
Beijing University of Chemical Technology scholarships 2027 offer international applicants funded postgraduate study in China through CSC High-Level, CSC Silk Road and the BUCT Presidential Scholarship. BUCT has published the three scholarship deadlines, and its doctoral admissions page confirms that applications for 2027–2028 are open.
If your next step is investigating cleaner chemical processes, developing materials or building on a biotechnology project, these awards could make a longer research degree financially possible. BUCT’s postgraduate options extend beyond chemistry, with English-taught programmes available in several engineering and science fields.
Your first decision is which award actually fits you. Can a master’s applicant pursue the Presidential Scholarship? Does the later Silk Road deadline mean everyone has a second chance? This guide brings the funding, eligibility and submission steps together so you can prepare the right application from the start.

01 Which BUCT scholarship could support your studies?
CSC High-Level and CSC Silk Road support postgraduate study, while the BUCT Presidential Scholarship is exclusively for PhD applicants. All three list tuition, accommodation and comprehensive medical insurance worth CNY 800 per year. Their monthly allowances and degree commitments are:
| Scholarship route | Degree and duration | Monthly stipend |
|---|---|---|
| CSC High-Level Postgraduate Scholarship | Master’s: 3 years PhD: 4 years |
Master’s: CNY 3,000 PhD: CNY 3,500 |
| CSC Silk Road Scholarship | Master’s: 3 years PhD: 4 years Restricted route; see eligibility below. |
Master’s: CNY 3,000 PhD: CNY 3,500 |
| BUCT Presidential Scholarship | PhD only: 4 years | CNY 3,500 |
Continued support depends on passing the annual review. CSC tuition, dormitory and stipend benefits are suspended if students cannot study on campus. Budget separately for application and residence-permit charges; the published scholarship coverage does not promise reimbursement of every expense.

02 Do your qualifications match BUCT’s 2027 requirements?
BUCT requires strong academic results, the appropriate previous degree and language evidence for your chosen programme. Its English-language admission requirements specify a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and age under 35 for master’s applicants; a master’s degree or equivalent and age under 40 for PhD applicants. You must hold a valid foreign private passport and comply with Chinese laws and BUCT regulations.
Silk Road needs a separate eligibility decision. The detailed brochure currently linked by BUCT is for 2026 and restricts both nationalities and subjects. Its country list cannot be presented as confirmed for 2027. Before selecting this route, obtain the 2027 country and programme conditions from BUCT Admissions at [email protected].
For programme fit, English-taught master’s choices listed by BUCT include Chemical Engineering and Technology, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Business Management. Doctoral options also include Environmental Science and Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics. These admission options do not establish Silk Road eligibility.
For English-taught study, the published thresholds are IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 85 for master’s and IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90 for PhD, with recognised equivalent evidence and native-speaker exceptions. Chinese-taught programmes require HSK 4 with at least 180; the French route requires B2 or an accepted equivalent.

03 What must you prepare before submitting to BUCT?
A BUCT supervisor’s acceptance letter is compulsory. The university says applicants without this uploaded letter will not be considered candidates. My recommendation is to approach a professor whose work connects with your proposed study, attaching a focused CV and a short explanation of that connection.
- Academic case: CV, personal statement and study proposal, using BUCT’s templates. Develop a specific academic goal, suitable methods and a realistic timetable; our China scholarship study-plan guide can help structure your draft.
- Academic records and references: certified/notarised qualifications or schooling evidence and transcripts in Chinese or English, plus two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.
- Identity, language and clearance: passport photo page, Chinese visa page if applicable, language proof, Foreigner Physical Examination Form and a police-issued non-criminal record in Chinese or English.
- Supporting evidence: publications, patents and other academic achievements if you have them. These strengthen the file but are not compulsory achievements for every applicant.

04 How do you apply for BUCT’s CSC and Presidential scholarships?
CSC Type B applicants must submit in both the BUCT and CSC systems; Presidential applicants apply through BUCT. Start with the university’s official admission guide and document templates, then follow this sequence:
- Choose the degree, programme and award. Match your academic background and teaching language, then obtain the required BUCT supervisor acceptance. I would prioritise a complete High-Level application if eligible rather than assume Silk Road will provide a later route.
- Complete the university application. Register and activate an account in the BUCT online application system. Enter passport-matching details, identify the scholarship you seek and upload the complete academic and clearance file.
- Complete CSC when applying for either government award. Use the Chinese Government Scholarship application system, select Type B and enter BUCT agency number 10010. Keep the two applications consistent. Presidential funding does not require a CSC application under BUCT’s published instructions.
- Follow review and payment instructions. BUCT’s postgraduate process requires the CNY 500 application fee after preliminary review, followed by a comprehensive interview. The fee is non-refundable; the guide does not announce a scholarship-applicant exemption.
- Track the outcome. Monitor your email and BUCT account for decisions and further instructions. Successful admission proceeds to the admission letter and JW201/JW202 documentation; confirm the awarded funding in your formal outcome.

05 Which BUCT application questions need a clear answer?
These distinctions help you avoid treating preliminary academic support as a final funded offer.
Does a BUCT supervisor’s acceptance letter guarantee a scholarship?
No. It is required for candidacy, but BUCT still reviews the application and conducts its admission assessment. Obtain the formal admission and funding outcome before making plans that depend on a scholarship.
Can an English-medium certificate replace IELTS automatically?
No automatic replacement is promised. BUCT accepts an equivalent language certificate that it recognises and exempts native English speakers from English evidence. If using an English-medium certificate, obtain BUCT’s acceptance of that evidence rather than assume it qualifies.
Can I complete only the CSC form and wait for BUCT?
No. BUCT explicitly requires both systems for its CSC Type B routes, so one submission leaves the university’s required process incomplete. Presidential applicants follow the separate BUCT-only route described above.

06 What are BUCT’s scholarship deadlines for 2027?
The last date to apply for the BUCT CSC High-Level Postgraduate Scholarship is 28 February 2027. The last date to apply for the BUCT CSC Silk Road Scholarship is 15 May 2027. The BUCT Presidential Scholarship deadline is June 2027; the scholarship page does not specify an exact day.
The general postgraduate admission deadline is 30 June 2027, which does not extend either CSC deadline or establish the Presidential Scholarship’s exact closing day. BUCT’s scholarship webpages give the route-specific CSC dates above; do not use the booklet’s broader “March 2027” entry to postpone a High-Level application.
Give yourself three practical tasks now: choose the eligible degree and scholarship, request the academic document that will take longest, and begin your supervisor approach with a focused study or research idea. If you are comparing universities, our 2027 Chinese university scholarship deadline guide can help you organise the rest of your shortlist.
