Chiang Mai University (CMU) has announced the offering of the CMU Presidential Scholarship for the 2024 academic year, aimed at fostering academic excellence and research innovation. This prestigious scholarship program is designed to support 200 full graduate-level scholarships annually, distributed equally between doctoral and master’s degree candidates.

The application process for the scholarship is divided into two regular rounds, corresponding with the admission periods for the first semester of the academic year 2024. Candidates interested in starting their studies in the second semester are encouraged to contact the Program Administrative Committee Chair directly.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time, regular curriculum doctoral or master’s degree program and must be working on a thesis or dissertation during the academic year 2024. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required. For those who have completed a master’s degree program focused on thesis work, evidence of published research in reputable journals is necessary.

English proficiency is mandatory, with accepted tests including IELTS (minimum score 6.0), TOEFL (minimum score 213 CBT or 79 IBT), or CMU-eTEGS (minimum score 70). Exceptions are made for native English speakers from specified countries.

Scholarship awardees must enroll as full-time students and submit progress reports every semester. Graduation criteria include adherence to CMU standards and additional requirements set by the Scholarship Committee, such as publication in international journals and conferences.
