Greece PhD Fellowship 2025 in FUSION Research Project

The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) has officially opened applications for a PhD fellowship focused on “Physicochemical characterization of materials and water” as part of the EU-funded research initiative, FUSION – Comprehensive and sustainable solution to minimize food loss and waste and promote food security in the Mediterranean region.

This unique opportunity is ideal for graduate students specializing in Chemistry, Materials Science, or closely related fields who wish to contribute to innovative sustainability solutions in the Mediterranean under the Horizon 2020 PRIMA Programme.

Starting Date: June 1, 2025
Fellowship Duration: Initially up to 6 months, with the possibility of renewal
Monthly Stipend: Approx. €840 (subject to qualifications)

The PhD fellow will be engaged in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in the fields of plasma technology, water analysis, and material characterization, helping to address the global challenge of food waste and food security.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a BSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Be registered as a PhD candidate in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related department.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience in:
    • Plasma technology setups
    • Characterization methods such as TGA, XPS, and BET
  • Be fluent in Greek and possess English proficiency (minimum B2 level; higher levels earn more points during evaluation).

Applicants with scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals can earn up to 20 additional points, strengthening their application further.
