The Future Leaders Program 2026 (Spring Edition) is now open, inviting ambitious graduates from around the world to step directly into Europe’s foreign-policy ecosystem. Hosted by the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, this in-person fellowship in Budapest offers real policy work, professional mentorship, and paid research engagement—delivered fully in English.

Who They’re Looking For?
The Future Leaders Program 2026 in Hungary is designed for young, high-potential graduates who are eager to build a professional career in international affairs, diplomacy, and foreign policy research. Applicants must have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree and should come from academic backgrounds such as International Relations, Political Science, Diplomacy, History, Philosophy, or other closely related disciplines that demonstrate strong analytical and global awareness skills.
To ensure the program supports early-career talent, applicants must be under 30 years of age at the time of application. Since the fellowship is conducted entirely in English, candidates are required to demonstrate a high level of English proficiency (minimum C1 level). Selected fellows must also be fully available to participate in person in Budapest, committing approximately 30 hours per week at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs throughout the duration of the program.

Applications are submitted online and must be completed entirely in English. Applicants should prepare the following documents:

- Writing sample (3,000–5,000 characters, including spaces)
- Proof of English language proficiency (C1 or above)
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interviews conducted by HIIA staff.
