Designed to support high-achieving Pennsylvania students—especially minority and first-generation college students—this program provides financial aid, academic development, and career preparation.

Scholarship and Benefits
Promising Scholars receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 per year, renewable for up to four years. The program also includes:
- Mentorship from upperclassmen
- 80 required study hours per semester
- Professional development opportunities (résumé building, mock interviews, internship applications, job fairs)
- Exclusive campus visit events
- Leadership and volunteer programs.
Eligibility and Application Process
To qualify for this scholarship, students must:
- Apply and gain admission to IUP by October 31, 2025.
- Complete the Promising Scholars Application online https://www.iup.edu/admissions/undergraduate/costs-financial-aid-scholarships/financial-aid-scholarships/promisingscholars/index.html.
- Demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement.
- Attend an interview event, with limited slots available:
- Promising Scholars West – November 23, 2025 (IUP Campus)
- Promising Scholars East – November 26, 2025 (Philadelphia).
