International Student Scholarship 2026 at Tianjin University
Tianjin University, one of China’s oldest and most respected research institutions, has opened applications for its International Student Scholarship for the 2026 intake. The scholarship targets non-Chinese nationals seeking a full bachelor’s degree across a wide catalogue of programs taught in either Chinese or English.
With tuition subsidies up to 20,000 RMB and monthly living stipends on the table, this is a concrete funding route into one of China’s top-tier universities — not a vague promise buried in fine print.
What the Money Actually Looks Like?
The scholarship runs for one year and comes in four tiers. Here is what each tier covers:
- Type A — 20,000 RMB tuition subsidy plus a 1,400 RMB monthly living allowance paid over 10 months (14,000 RMB total living support per year)
- Type B — 20,000 RMB tuition subsidy with no living allowance
- Type C — 10,000 RMB tuition subsidy
- Type D — 6,000 RMB tuition subsidy
For context, annual tuition at Tianjin University runs 16,600 RMB for Chinese-taught general programs and 20,000 RMB for English-taught ones, while specialty programs like Architecture and Software Engineering cost 26,000 RMB. A Type A or Type B award can wipe out most or all of your tuition for the first year. Beyond tuition, budget for insurance at 800 RMB per year and on-campus dormitory rates between 15 and 60 RMB per bed per day. Admitted students also pay a one-time 420 RMB application fee and a 7,000 RMB pre-registration deposit after acceptance.
The university has not published a fixed number of awards. Scholarship slots are distributed across individual schools, and each school has a limited quota — which is exactly why the official guidance pushes early applications.

From First Click to Acceptance Letter — The Application Process
The road from applicant to admitted student at Tianjin university runs through four stages, each with a clear checkpoint.
Stage 1 is the CSCA exam. Before you touch the online application, you must sit the China Scholastic Competency Assessment organized by the China Scholarship Council. Check test dates and subject requirements at www.csca.cn, and take it early — your score is a major factor in how the university evaluates your academic readiness, and late results can stall your entire application.
Stage 2 is the online submission https://sie.tju.edu.cn/en/jxj/tjdxjxj/202410/t20241015_323982.html. Head to Tianjin University’s International Student Service System at tju.at0086.cn/student, fill out your profile, and upload every required document: your high school diploma or pre-graduation certificate, notarized transcripts or standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB), CSCA results, passport copy valid beyond September 2026, language certificates, a resume covering every period since high school with no gaps, a study plan of at least 600 words, a completed physical examination form dated after October 1, 2025, a non-criminal record certificate issued within six months, proof of financial support, and the university’s own scholarship application form signed and uploaded under the “Others” section. All documents must be in Chinese or English, with notarized translations where needed.
Stage 3 is the interview. If your file clears initial review, the university invites you to an interview assessing your overall profile and, for Chinese-taught tracks, your Chinese language ability.
Stage 4 is confirmation and payment. Accepted students pay the 7,000 RMB deposit and 420 RMB application fee by the university’s deadline. Once payment is received, Tianjin University issues your electronic Admission Notice and JW202/JW201 visa form in July. That deposit is non-refundable if you later withdraw.
The Clock Is Ticking — Final Deadline
All applications of International Student Scholarship 2026 at Tianjin University must be submitted through the online system by April 1, 2026.
