MOE Taiwan Scholarship 2025 for International Students

About the Scholarship

The MOE Taiwan Scholarship is designed to encourage exceptional students from Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Kosovo (excluding students from mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau) to study in Taiwan. The program is administered by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and adheres to the official Taiwan Scholarship Program Directions.

MOE Taiwanese Scholarship Funding Package

Recipients will enjoy generous financial support, including:

1# Tuition and Miscellaneous Expenses

    • Up to NT$40,000 per semester for tuition and miscellaneous fees.
    • Note: Certain items, such as administrative fees, insurance premiums, accommodation, and internet access, are not covered.

2# Monthly Living Stipend

    • NT$15,000 per month for undergraduate students.
    • NT$20,000 per month for master’s and doctoral students.

Duration of the Scholarship

This Taiwanese scholarship duration is determined by the degree program pursued:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Up to 4 years
  • Master’s Degree: Up to 2 years
  • Doctoral Degree: Up to 4 years

A recipient may hold the scholarship for a maximum of 5 years if progressing to advanced degrees.


Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, or Kosovo.
  • Hold at least a high school diploma.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence and good moral character.
  • Apply for an undergraduate or graduate program in Taiwan.

Ineligibility: Applicants with dual R.O.C. nationality, prior Taiwan Scholarship recipients (5-year maximum), or other conflicting government scholarships are not eligible.


Application Process

Applicants must follow these steps:

  1. Online Application: Submit an application at Taiwan Scholarship Portal between February 1 and March 31, 2025.
  2. Submit Required Documents: After completing the online application, print the form and send it with the following documents to the Taipei Representative Office in Hungary by March 31, 2025:
    • Application form
    • Passport copy
    • Verified copies of academic degrees and transcripts
    • Proof of application to a Taiwanese university/college
    • Language proficiency certificate (if applicable)
    • Two sealed reference letters
    • Signed MOE Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreement
