Competition Categories

Students can submit entries in one of four categories:

  • Workplace – Design an innovative hybrid workspace that fosters collaboration and supports diverse work styles.
  • Experiential – Create environments where experiences or amenities elevate the lives of visitors and maximize business value.
  • Pick a Problem – Solve a workplace challenge such as sustainable commuting, seamless remote and office collaboration, or innovative office furniture design.
  • Third Place – Develop a flexible workspace beyond traditional offices that supports social interaction and productivity.

Who Can Apply?

  • Open to current undergraduate and graduate students (18+ years old) from any institution worldwide.
  • Students can enter individually or in teams of up to three.

How to Apply

Submissions must submit applications here (https://www.workdesign.com/2025-next-work-environment-student-competition/) with following:

  • Contact details (name, email, phone, school, and graduation year)
  • A 500-word description outlining the idea
  • A solution name and problem statement
  • Up to 10 supporting images (JPEG format) and optional Canva/PPT (10 slides max)
  • Optional video (7–30 seconds; max 3 minutes).

Application Timeline

he submission period for the 2025 Next Work Environment Student Scholarship Competition opens on March 3, 2025. Interested students must submit their entries by April 25, 2025. Finalists will be announced on May 6, 2025, followed by a call with jury members on May 16, 2025. Winners will be officially featured on WorkDesign.com in June 2025.
