Physics PhD Scholarship Position 2025 at University of Tübingen

The University of Tübingen’s Faculty of Science, Institute of Applied Physics, is inviting applications for a PhD Student/Doctoral Candidate in Physics (m/f/d, E13 TV-L, 50–75%) under the exciting research group “Physics of Molecular and Biological Materials,” led by Prof. Dr. Frank Schreiber.

This 3-year PhD program offers an exceptional opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects related to perovskite films, nano-structured materials, protein crystallization, and machine learning for scattering data. The research integrates sophisticated experimental techniques like X-ray and neutron scattering, time-resolved diffraction, and AI-based data analysis — conducted both in-house and at leading European synchrotron facilities.


Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Interest in materials science
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in teams
  • Programming skills in Python and prior lab experience are advantageous
  • While German is not required, it is considered a plus.
