The Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography 2025 offers a transformative opportunity for artists in the field of dance and choreography to explore new horizons, connect with global talents, and broaden their artistic perspectives.
Jointly developed by the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Pina Bausch Foundation, this fellowship embodies the credo of Pina Bausch: “It is not about art, also not about pure technique. It is about life, and therefore it is about finding a language for life.”
Benefits of the Pina Bausch Fellowship
The Pina Bausch Fellowship is a globally recognized program that offers:
- Monthly Stipend: Funding Cap: A total of €30,000 divided among selected fellows:
- €2,500 for full-time fellows (21 hours or more per week).
- €1,000 for part-time fellows (20 hours or less per week).
- Travel Allowance: Covers travel to and from the fellowship location and one visit to North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, for the final week.
- Flexible Formats: Fellowships can be conducted on-site, virtually, or in hybrid formats, enabling artists to adapt the experience to their unique situations.
- Personalized Mentorship: Collaborate with a self-chosen cooperating partner to further artistic development through mentoring and exchange.
- Onboarding and Networking: A digital onboarding session in August 2025 to connect with other fellows and experts.
Eligibility Criteria
The fellowship is open to:
- Artists in Dance and Choreography: Candidates must have at least two years of professional experience or hold a formal degree in dance or choreography. All dance forms are welcome.
- Age Flexibility: No age restrictions apply.
- Cooperating Partner Collaboration: Applicants must select a notable cooperating partner (institution or individual) in dance or choreography and provide a letter of intent confirming their partnership.
- Global Participation: Artists from all countries are encouraged to apply.
Degree Levels
This fellowship supports both seasoned professionals and emerging talents who have at least two (02) years of experience or relevant academic qualifications in dance or choreography.
