Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for this life-changing scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:
- High School Senior/Incoming Freshman: You must be a current high school senior planning to enroll as a freshman at EMU in Fall 2025.
- Academic Excellence:
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- A composite ACT score of at least 25 or a SAT score of 1200 (Critical Reading + Math).
- For students with a GPA of 3.85 or higher, the SAT/ACT requirement is waived.
- Admissions: You must apply for admission to Eastern Michigan University and ensure all official transcripts and test scores are submitted by the scholarship deadline.

Applying for the Presidential Scholarship involves several steps to ensure your application is complete:

- Submit the Presidential Scholarship Essay Form: Complete your essay submission here.
- Attend an Official Campus Visit:
- To be eligible, you must complete an official campus visit in 2024. This can be a campus tour, an open house, or even a virtual admissions event. Explore your visit options at emich.edu/visit.
- EMU Honors College offers special virtual sessions where you can interact with current scholars and get tips on preparing for the Presidential Scholars Competition. These sessions also count toward your visit requirement.
Important Dates to Remember
- December 13, 2024: All application materials, including your campus visit, must be completed and submitted by 11:59 p.m.
- January 15, 2025: Notification of advancement to the second round will be sent out by this date.
- February 8, 2025: Finalists will be invited to campus for an interview. For those living far from Michigan, virtual interviews will be available.
