Eligibility – Are You the Right Fit?

The Research Associate Program 2025 welcomes talented scientists and engineers who meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Ph.D. in natural sciences or engineering or a Master’s degree in an engineering field earned within the last five years (or expect to obtain it within six months).
  • Exhibit the ability to conduct original, high-quality research in your chosen field.
  • Preference may be given to women, Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis), persons with disabilities, and racialized persons, in line with NRC’s Employment Equity goals.
  • Meet the Reliability Status condition of employment.

Programs & Work Locations

Selected candidates will be placed in one of NRC’s numerous research offices across Canada. The positions are term-based, with an initial contract of two years (extendable to a maximum of five years based on performance and institutional needs).

Candidates may be eligible for hybrid work arrangements, but must commit to being onsite at least three times per week or 60% of their schedule (exceptions available for Indigenous candidates with community ties).
