U.S. Pacific MS and PhD Fellowship and Scholarship 2025 at University of South Pacific (USP).

The U.S.-Pacific Resilience and Adaptation Fellowship Program Scholarship Scheme for 2025 is now accepting applications for its 2nd Call for Applications, closing on 26 March 2025. This prestigious program offers fully funded scholarships for exceptional students pursuing PhD and Master’s degrees at the University of the South Pacific (USP).

Program Overview

The program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, aims to develop future leaders to address the severe challenges posed by climate change in the South Pacific region. It supports interdisciplinary research across critical themes like natural resource management, marine ecology, food and water security, and renewable energy.

Selected candidates will benefit from collaborations with leading U.S. institutions, including Stanford University, Georgetown University, and the University of California.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship offers comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Annual Tuition Fees and General Service Fee (paid directly to USP)
  • Living Allowance: FJ$24,000/year for PhD and FJ$21,600/year for Master’s
  • Research Grant: Up to FJ$45,000 for PhD and FJ$20,000 for Master’s
  • Dependent Allowance: FJ$11,000/year (conditions apply)
  • One-Time Establishment Allowance: FJ$1,942 for relocation to USP’s Laucala campus
  • Return Economy Airfare for relocation to USP Laucala campus
  • Laptop for research use
  • Annual Book Allowance: FJ$750

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a USP member country. Special consideration will be given to citizens of Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
  • Meet the following age limits: 35 years or below for Master’s and 45 years or below for PhD.
  • Demonstrate strong academic qualifications:
    • Master’s applicants: Bachelor’s degree with GPA ≥ 4.0 or Postgraduate Diploma with GPA ≥ 3.5.
    • PhD applicants: Master’s degree by thesis or a degree with significant independent research components.

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant industry experience, published research, or exceptional academic potential.

  • Cover letter
  • CV with contact details of three referees
  • Two referee letters supporting research potential
  • Certified academic transcripts
  • Proof of citizenship
  • Two-page Research proposal Intent.
