UK Government Fully Funded OIT Fellowship 2025 for International Applicants

The Open Innovation Team (OIT) has officially launched applications for its 2025 Policy Fellowship Programme, inviting aspiring policy professionals to engage in a transformative six-month mentoring scheme under the guidance of academic experts. This initiative, supported by the UK Government, aims to bridge the gap between academia and public policy by equipping civil servants with specialized knowledge and analytical skills in key policy areas.

About the Fellowship

The OIT Policy Fellowship is a fully funded, part-time programme that provides structured mentorship to civil servants from grades SEO-G6 seeking in-depth insights into policy research. Fellows will collaborate with leading academics from the University of Essex, Brunel University London, Lancaster University, the University of Surrey, and the University of York to explore a specific policy question aligned with their area of work.

Over six months, participants will develop a research-based policy output, benefiting from regular guidance sessions and expert supervision. The 2025 fellowship will cover a wider range of research topics, including:

  • Education
  • Health & Social Care
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Digital Innovation
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Government & Public Administration
  • Business, Work & Employment

The Fellowship is designed to foster collaboration between government officials and academia, ensuring that policy decisions are informed by the latest evidence and expert analysis.

Benefits of the Fellowship

Selected candidates will gain:

  • Direct mentorship from leading academics in relevant policy fields.
  • New professional networks across academia and civil service.
  • Practical experience in data analysis and policy evaluation.
  • Enhanced expertise in their chosen research domain.
