What is the UEA Music Centre Award?

The UEA Music Centre Award is an annual scholarship available to both new and current students who showcase outstanding musical talent and a strong commitment to contributing to the university’s musical life. Open to musicians of any instrument or voice, across all styles and traditions—including different national traditions—the award encourages recipients to take on leading roles within UEA’s vibrant music scene.

Award Benefits

Each award is worth £800 per year, intended to support recipients in developing their musical skills and resources. This financial boost can be used for instrumental or vocal lessons, purchasing music-related materials, or other activities that contribute to your musical growth. Additionally, award holders have the opportunity to re-audition in subsequent years, potentially renewing the award if they continue to demonstrate significant contributions to the musical life at UEA.

Who Can Apply for UEA Music Center Scholarship?

The UEA Music Centre Award is open to students across a wide range of disciplines and courses, including:

  • Undergraduate programs
  • Postgraduate Taught and Research programs
  • MBA and PGCE courses
  • Year Abroad programs

Whether you’re studying Arts, Science, Medicine, Business, or any other discipline at UEA, you are eligible to apply. However, students who currently hold a UEA Music Scholarship are not eligible for the Music Centre Award.

Application Process

The application process for the UEA Music Centre Award involves three key steps:

  1. Application Submission: https://www.uea.ac.uk/study/fees-and-funding/scholarships/music-centre-award
  2. Interview: If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to a short interview with the Director of Music. This is your chance to discuss your musical ambitions, how you plan to contribute to UEA’s musical life, and to ask any questions you may have about the university’s music community and interviews are scheduled for Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 October 2024.
  3. Audition: The final stage of the application process is a ten-minute audition, where you’ll perform three contrasting pieces that showcase your talent. Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 October 2024.

Application Deadline: The application deadline for the 2024 Music Centre Awards is 11am on Thursday 3 October 2024.
