KI Global Master’s Scholarship 2026 Have Officially Opened

Applications for the KI Global Master’s Scholarship 2026-2027 batch have officially opened, marking a significant opportunity for talented international students seeking fully funded tuition support at one of the world’s most distinguished medical universities.

Each year, Karolinska Institutet selects only around one scholar per master’s programme, creating a highly competitive pathway for academically outstanding applicants who aim to pursue advanced studies in Sweden beginning in 2026. With hundreds of applicants competing for a limited number of awards, the scholarship continues to stand as one of the most selective and valued academic funding opportunities in Europe.

Karolinska Institutet, founded in 1810 in Stockholm, has long been recognized as a global leader in medical research, public health, and life sciences. Its strong heritage in innovation and scientific discovery has positioned it at the forefront of medical education, with close links to Stockholm’s academic hospitals and research centres. As one of Scandinavia’s most influential universities, it plays a central role in shaping advancements in global healthcare and evidence-based medicine.

The university consistently ranks among the top medical institutions worldwide, which is reflected in its large and diverse international student population. Students from across continents choose Karolinska Institutet for its research-driven environment, internationally accredited programmes, and longstanding reputation for producing leaders in biotechnology, public health, epidemiology, and clinical research. This global presence strengthens the academic community and enriches the learning experience for incoming master’s students from outside the EU and EEA.

What the Winners of KI Global MS Scholarship Will Receive?

The KI Global Master’s Scholarship offers full coverage of tuition fees for the entire duration of the selected master’s programme, allowing recipients to focus entirely on their academic training without the burden of educational expenses. While the scholarship does not cover travel, living costs, or personal expenses, it significantly reduces the financial obstacles associated with studying at one of the world’s best medical universities.

Programmes Available

Supported programmes include all of Karolinska Institutet’s global master’s degrees except the Master’s Programme in Molecular Techniques in Life Science and the Master’s Programme in Biostatistics and Data Science, which are instead tied to KTH scholarship opportunities. All eligible programmes are taught entirely in English, enabling students from diverse linguistic backgrounds to participate fully in the academic and research environment.

Can You Apply?

Eligibility is strictly defined to ensure that only the most committed and academically prepared candidates are considered. Applicants must be non-EU/EEA tuition-fee–paying students, admitted to one of the global master’s programmes starting in 2026, and must have paid the application fee by the specified date. They must also meet all entry and documentation requirements set by the programme they have applied to and must be entering the first year of study at Karolinska Institutet.
