Chula Global Library Visiting Fellowship 2026 Now Open for International Applicants

The Office of Academic Resources (OAR) at Chulalongkorn University has opened applications for the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026. This opportunity offers one international fellow a two-month residency in Bangkok, Thailand, focused on collaborative projects or research in areas such as librarianship, information science, archival management, educational technology, scholarly communication, and Thai or Southeast Asian Studies.

Financial Support of this Fellowship

The fellowship includes a stipend of 230,000 THB, subject to a 15% withholding tax. This amount is intended to cover both pre-arrival and on-site expenses, including visa fees, airfare, accommodation, insurance, and other program-related costs.

The stipend is released in two installments: one shortly after arrival upon completion of administrative requirements, and the second at the end of the program after submission of the final report. Fellows should be prepared to cover initial travel and living expenses before receiving the first payment.

Fellowship Tracks

The fellowship provides two specialized tracks.

  • The Professional Practice Track supports library and information professionals with at least three years of relevant experience who are involved in digital initiatives, service innovation, preservation work, data management, multimedia archives, scholarly communication, or digital repository management.
  • The Research Fellowship Track targets scholars holding terminal degrees with a strong publication record in Thai Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, or related fields. Fellows under this track are expected to produce a co-authored academic paper or short research project utilizing OAR’s collections, particularly at the Thailand and ASEAN Information Center.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be non-Thai citizens employed by a reputable institution throughout the fellowship period. They must have strong English proficiency, institutional approval to participate, and the ability to commit to the full program duration. The program seeks individuals who are adaptable, open-minded, and ready to work in a multicultural environment where English is not the native language.

Program Duration and Residency Options

The fellowship lasts two (02) months, and applicants may choose one of the following residency periods:

  • May 1 – June 30, 2026
  • June 1 – July 31, 2026.

Required Application Documents

All documents must be submitted in English and uploaded in PDF format (maximum 10 MB each). Required materials include:

  • A current CV with photo
  • A project proposal of 2,000–5,000 words outlining objectives, expected outcomes, and timeline
  • A permission letter from the applicant’s current institution confirming employment and authorizing participation.

Application Deadline and Selection Timeline

The application deadline for the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program is December 31, 2025, at 23:59 Thailand local time. After the initial review, shortlisted candidates will be announced on January 16, 2026, and the selection interviews will be conducted via Zoom from January 26 to February 13, 2026. The final list of selected fellows will be released on February 27, 2026.
