Does your nationality and chosen Borås master’s qualify?

Your tuition-fee status and programme eligibility matter more than your region. Most applicants outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland must pay fees. Swedish, EU/EEA and Swiss citizens, and certain residence-status categories, are exempt. A Swedish residence permit granted for studies does not itself make you fee-exempt.

Borås’s autumn 2027 scholarship list covers master’s routes in data-driven IT management, AI management, textile management, fashion marketing and management, digital information environments, textile value chains, textile engineering and technical textile innovation. Resource recovery options cover biotechnology and bioeconomy, sustainable energy processes, polymer materials for the circular economy, AI-enhanced supply chain management and sustainable civil engineering.

Fashion management and artistic fashion design are different routes. Artistic programmes are excluded from this scholarship, even though some eligible programmes also concern fashion or textiles. Borås does not offer these university scholarships for spring entry.

Choose by academic fit: check the bachelor’s subject and prerequisite credits required by your exact programme. Scholarship selection considers your study record and qualifications relevant to Borås’s educational or research priorities. A persuasive application cannot replace missing admission prerequisites.

How much would a Borås scholarship leave you to pay?

Budget for the uncovered tuition and all living costs. The regulations provide a waiver of at least 75%. For a newly admitted scholarship holder on a two-year programme, an additional 10 percentage points in year two is conditional on completing 60 programme credits.

Your funding situation Tuition consequence What to plan for
A 75% tuition waiver You pay the remaining 25%. Living expenses and travel remain outside the award.
A conditional increase from 75% to 85% in year two You pay 15% of second-year tuition if the increase is granted. Complete the required 60 credits; the increase is not automatic.
Continuing on a two-year scholarship At least 52.5 programme credits are required before term three to retain remaining funding. Monitor academic progress and the university’s assessment dates.

Accepting the award also means meeting the university’s deadlines for the remaining tuition and registration. Switching from a funded one-year programme to a two-year programme does not automatically secure scholarship funding for the additional year.

What should you prepare before the Borås scholarship opens?

Prepare your admissions evidence first, then organize the academic achievements that explain your fit. Collect your passport, degree documentation, transcripts, accepted English evidence and any required translations. Follow the country-specific documentation instructions; uploading a document is not enough if your qualification requires a different verification method.

Most Borås master’s require English 6/English Level 2. Common accepted test routes include IELTS Academic 6.5 with no section below 5.5, PTE Academic 62 with writing 61, and Cambridge C1 Advanced 180. For TOEFL iBT taken from 21 January 2026, the Level 2 threshold is 4.5 overall on the 1–6 scale, with no section below 4.

IELTS is not compulsory if you satisfy an accepted alternative. Qualifying previous education may also meet the requirement, but a generic medium-of-instruction letter is not a universal exemption. Check the requirement of your specific programme before booking or skipping a test.

Prepare a concise record of relevant grades, projects and academic achievements so you can answer the scholarship form accurately. This is preparation advice, not a claim that a CV, research proposal or separate essay is compulsory: the complete 2027 form requirements are not yet published.
