You do not need a supervisor acceptance letter to submit your first application. Guizhou reviews your file and arranges departmental assessment before successful candidates receive that document. So, which programme fits your background, and when should you complete the university and CSC applications?

This guide takes you through those decisions, including the 78% academic threshold, language alternatives and the introduction video you need to prepare.

01 What does Guizhou University’s CSC Scholarship fund?

The scholarship covers registration and tuition fees, free on-campus dormitory accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and a monthly living allowance. Your degree level determines the stipend and funding period:

Degree route Entry qualification and age Stipend and funding period
Master’s Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; under 35. CNY 3,000 per month; three years.
PhD Master’s degree or equivalent; under 40. CNY 3,500 per month; four years.

The published package does not include international airfare. Plan separately for travel, visa arrangements, medical examinations and document preparation so these upfront expenses do not interrupt your application.

Guizhou’s 2027 master’s catalogue and 2027 doctoral catalogue include fields spanning law, management, engineering, biology and agriculture. English-taught options include Botany, Microbiology, Genetics and Ecology; teaching language depends on the exact programme or research direction.

I would choose the research direction before drafting the study plan: the university application permits only one intended major. A clear connection between your previous work and the selected department gives you a stronger basis for both the written application and interview.

02 Who qualifies, and what should your Guizhou application contain?

You need non-Chinese citizenship, good physical and mental health, the appropriate qualification and an academic average of at least 78% in your highest completed programme. You must also meet the degree-specific age limits above and must not have been awarded another scholarship covered by the notice’s Chinese-government or university funding restrictions.

For Chinese-taught study, Guizhou requires HSK Level 4 with at least 230 points. Applicants who obtained a Chinese-taught degree at a Chinese higher education institution are exempt from the HSK certificate. For English-taught study, the stated test thresholds are IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80; the document list also accepts proof of English-medium instruction.

Prepare the following evidence before starting the university form:

  • Identity and qualifications: Passport information page, with validity extending beyond September 2027; notarized highest diploma or an institution-issued expected-graduation certificate; stamped transcripts from undergraduate study onwards. Provide notarized Chinese or English translations where required.
  • Study plan and references: More than 1,000 English words or Chinese characters, plus two recommendation letters issued within the last six months by professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English. A doctoral study plan requires the Chinese supervisor’s signature.
  • Health and police documents: A complete Foreigner Physical Examination Form filled in English, with the required photograph, signatures and hospital seals; results are valid for six months. Submit a valid police clearance, normally issued within the six months before application.
  • Introduction video: A 2–3 minute Chinese- or English-language video covering your background, education, reasons for choosing Guizhou and the major, and study plans. Use clear pictures and stable audio; post-editing and dubbing are prohibited.
  • Additional materials: Language evidence and, for relevant art/design applications, portfolio materials. The supervisor acceptance letter is added after successful university review.

My recommendation is to develop the study plan and video around the same academic goal, using your real projects and preparation as evidence. Our Chinese scholarship study-plan writing guide can help structure the draft; Guizhou’s length and signature requirements take precedence.

03 How do you apply through Guizhou University and CSC?

Submit to Guizhou first, complete its assessment, and then follow the university’s instructions for the CSC submission. This is a Type B university-managed route; our Chinese Government Scholarship application guide explains how it differs from the Type A authority route.

  1. Submit the Guizhou application. Register on the Guizhou University International Student Service Platform. Select “Online Application → Chinese Government Scholarship”, then the teaching language, college, major and research direction. Choose one major, upload the required evidence and click “Submit”.
  2. Complete university assessment. Files passing initial screening go to the academic college for review, interview and comprehensive assessment. Monitor your email for instructions and requests for corrections.
  3. Add the acceptance document after review. Successful master’s and doctoral candidates receive Guizhou’s Supervisor Acceptance Letter. Upload it to both the university and CSC systems within the instructed period; doctoral candidates must also satisfy the study-plan signature requirement.
  4. Submit the CSC application. Following Guizhou’s instructions, register or log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System. Choose Program Category B and Agency Number 10657, complete the form and uploads, and ensure the status becomes “Submitted”.
  5. Follow the result and registration instructions. Scholarship review takes several months. Check the CSC system and your email; if admitted, bring the original qualifications, transcripts, health form, police clearance and language certificates for verification.

04 What should Guizhou CSC applicants clarify before submitting?

Can I apply without IELTS?

Yes, the application-materials section accepts proof of English-medium instruction alongside IELTS or TOEFL. Submit formal evidence of your previous teaching language; the notice does not give detailed conditions for that alternative, so seek clarification from [email protected] if your evidence is unusual.

Does the supervisor acceptance letter guarantee funding?

No. Guizhou explicitly states that the letter is neither formal admission nor confirmation of a Chinese Government Scholarship. Continue the CSC submission and await the official selection result.

Can final-year students submit an application?

Yes, current students may submit an expected-graduation certificate issued by their institution. You must still satisfy the academic requirements and present the required original qualification at registration.

Is the application automatically free because registration fees are waived?

The award waives registration fees, but the notice does not separately state an application-processing fee. Treat these as different charges and review any payment instruction in the university portal before proceeding.

05 When is the Guizhou University CSC Scholarship 2027 deadline?

The last date to apply for the 2027–2028 Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program offered by Guizhou University is 15 December 2026, through the university’s platform. The official application guide does not specify a closing hour; plan your submission using China Standard Time (UTC+8) and submit early.

Later interview, document-update and CSC submission instructions are communicated by email; the guide does not publish a separate universal CSC-stage deadline. Enrolment is expected in late August or early September 2027, with the exact reporting date stated in the admission notice.
