Jilin Agricultural University 5 CSC Scholarships 2027 Available: Can You Apply?
Jilin Agricultural University can nominate just five international students for the 2027/2028 Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program, but every nominated applicant receives full tuition, free accommodation, a living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance for the full length of a Master’s or PhD.
Five nomination slots is a narrow door, and the university reads every file closely rather than processing applicants through a numbers game. The real question is not whether JLAU has room for you — it’s whether your documents, language proof, and two separate system submissions are airtight before 10 February 2027.
This guide works through what the scholarship pays for, who qualifies, the exact national document checklist to start preparing now, the submission sequence across two systems, and the mistakes that quietly disqualify otherwise strong applicants.
Your JLAU scholarship preparation route
01 Is JLAU a serious choice, or just a cheap one?
JLAU is a provincial key university in Changchun with 27,011 full-time students and a teaching staff of 1,783, built jointly by the Jilin provincial government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It was among China’s first universities authorised to grant bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and the first provincial institution in Jilin to gain doctoral degree-awarding authority.
The honest read: if your field is agriculture, rural development, food science, or a related applied discipline, JLAU’s Belt and Road and South-South cooperation networks give you a genuine research community, not just a funding line. Outside agriculture, check the majors catalogue (Annex 1) carefully before applying — it’s a specialised university, not a comprehensive one.

02 What does the JLAU scholarship actually cover?
Tuition, accommodation, living expenses and medical insurance are all waived or provided; only your international flights are on you. The brochure does not publish a specific monthly stipend figure, so treat any exact amount you see on third-party sites as unconfirmed until JLAU’s admissions office states it in writing to you directly.
| Degree level | Duration | What’s funded |
|---|---|---|
| Master’s | 3 years | Tuition, application fee, accommodation, living expenses, comprehensive medical insurance. |
| PhD | 4 years | Same package as Master’s, for one additional year. |
Teaching is offered in Chinese or English depending on the programme, and the final list of admitted majors is confirmed only once the Ministry of Education and your admission letter are issued — the published catalogue (Annex 1) can still shift. International travel costs, and anything the insurance plan doesn’t cover, sit outside the award.

03 Do you meet JLAU’s eligibility requirements?
Nationality, age, degree level and language proof all have to line up before JLAU will consider your file. None of these conditions are negotiable at application stage.
| Requirement | Master’s | PhD |
|---|---|---|
| Prior degree | Bachelor’s, academically excellent | Master’s, academically excellent |
| Age limit | Under 35 | Under 40 |
| Chinese-taught route | HSK Level 4 or above. Waived only if your previous degree was itself taught in Chinese at a Chinese university. | |
| English-taught route | At least one of: native English speaker, official-language English speaker, English-major degree holder, TOEFL 85+, or IELTS 6.0+. | |
| Health and nationality | Non-Chinese citizen, in good physical and mental health. | |
Meeting these conditions gets your file read; it doesn’t guarantee a nomination. JLAU’s academic schools still assess “academic ability, language ability and other relevant conditions” against each applicant’s chosen major, so a borderline language score is a far easier fix now than after you’ve submitted.

04 The 12-document CSC checklist to start now
This is the China Scholarship Council’s own national document list for Type B applicants — the template JLAU’s Annex III is built from. JLAU may add minor university-specific items, so confirm Annex III once you download it, but this list covers what every applicant needs regardless of receiving university.
- Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship — generated after you register on the CSC system, in Chinese or English.
- Copy of your passport photo page — your passport must remain valid well beyond your intended enrolment date; renew first if it won’t.
- Notarized highest diploma — final-year students submit official proof of student status instead; non-Chinese/English documents need a notarized translation.
- Full academic transcripts — every semester of your most recent degree, sealed by your university’s academic affairs office.
- Language certificate — HSK report for Chinese-taught programmes, or IELTS/TOEFL for English-taught ones.
- Pre-admission documents — an official admission letter, pre-admission letter, or supervisor invitation letter from JLAU, sealed by its international admissions office and stating your planned study dates, supervisor (if any) and teaching language.
- Study plan proposal — at least 1,000 characters/words, in Chinese or English; PhD proposals must be signed by your Chinese supervisor.
- Two recommendation letters — from professors or associate professors, addressing your learning objectives, abilities and growth potential.
- Portfolio — only if applying to an art or design-related major.
- Guardian documents — only required if you’re under 18.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form — completed in English, covering every required item, with physician signature and hospital seal. Valid for 6 months only, so time it close to submission.
- Non-criminal record certificate — issued by your local police authority, normally within 6 months of submission.
Whatever you submit has to be identical across both the CSC system and JLAU’s own system. The brochure is explicit that mismatched files are grounds for rejection, so build one master document set and upload the same files twice rather than redrafting anything mid-process. Scan everything on a proper device — the CSC’s own instructions warn that unclear or unreadable uploads are the applicant’s responsibility, not the university’s.

05 How do you actually submit the application?
This is a two-system application, and skipping either one disqualifies you. JLAU states this directly: apply only through CSC and “we will not be able to accept your application.”
- Register on the CSC system. Go to studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, select Type B, and enter receiving-institution number 10193. Submit your details, then download the generated Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form.
- Email the downloaded form to JLAU. Send it to [email protected], the official International Student Admissions Office address.
- Mirror the application on JLAU’s own system. Register at jlau.liuguanbao.com and upload exactly the same documents used for CSC. This is the step applicants most often forget — and the one JLAU calls non-negotiable.
- Pass the preliminary and academic review. Around 15 March 2027, each academic school organises expert review — by interview or written test — of your academic ability, language proficiency and development potential.
- Receive and confirm your pre-admission notice. JLAU emails successful applicants by 28 March 2027. Log back into the CSC system to upload that notice and any remaining materials before the same date.
- Wait for the CSC’s final decision. A pre-admission notice is not a scholarship. The China Scholarship Council confirms results in July or August 2027.

06 Three mistakes that quietly end an application
1. Applying on only one system. Both CSC and JLAU’s own portal are mandatory, and email-only or paper applications are not accepted at all.
2. Letting contact details go stale. Interviews happen by phone or online, and JLAU confirms key information by email, so an unchecked inbox can mean a missed review window.
3. Going through an agent. JLAU states it has authorised no individual or intermediary to handle its scholarship enrolment. Apply directly, and verify scholarship details only via the official CSC website, campuschina.org.

07 Questions before you apply
A pre-admission notice arrived — am I guaranteed the scholarship?
No. Pre-admission confirms JLAU’s own recommendation. The China Scholarship Council still makes the final funding decision, announced in July or August 2027. Treat pre-admission as progress, not an award letter.
Can I hold this scholarship alongside another one?
No. Chinese Government Scholarship students cannot simultaneously receive other scholarships from local governments or domestic universities, excluding one-time awards. Discovery means cancellation and repayment of the funding already received; concealing other support brings a three-year ban on future applications.
With only 5 nomination slots, is it worth applying?
The university can recommend five applicants to CSC, and even that number depends on CSC’s final approval. It’s competitive rather than guaranteed — which is exactly why a complete, correctly matched document set across both systems matters more here than at a university with a larger quota.
I’m still waiting on my final diploma. Can I still apply?
Yes. The national CSC checklist accepts official proof of student status from prospective graduates in place of the notarized diploma. You’ll still need to supply the completed qualification once it’s issued.

08 JLAU scholarship deadlines for 2027/2028 entry
The last date to apply for Jilin Agricultural University’s 2027/2028 Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program is 10 February 2027. Applications are open now.
Academic review takes place around 15 March 2027. Pre-admission notices go out, and the follow-up CSC upload is due, by 28 March 2027. Final results from the China Scholarship Council are expected in July or August 2027.
With five nomination slots and a document set that has to match perfectly across two systems, your real deadline is whichever date lets you register on both platforms, email your CSC form to [email protected], and still have time to fix a mismatched file before 10 February. Start CSC registration this week, not in January — the physical exam and police clearance alone are only valid for six months, so timing them against your submission date matters.
