What Does the Scholarship Offer?
The Robert and Christine Danizger Scholarship provides:
- A monthly stipend of €1,200 to support your doctoral studies.
- The scholarship covers a maximum period of 36 months, with the initial approval typically granted for 24 months. An extension of up to 12 months may be possible in exceptional cases.
- Progress will be reviewed annually. An interim report by the doctoral candidate and a report by the supervisor are required before the end of the first funding year. If satisfactory progress is not demonstrated, the funding may be revoked.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the Robert and Christine Danizger Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Geographical Eligibility: You must be from Africa, with a preference given to candidates from Ghana or other West and Central African countries.
- Academic Focus: You should be planning a doctorate at Heidelberg University in either:
- Geography with a specialization in Geoinformatics
- Political Science
- Academic Excellence: You must be among the top performers in your field.
- Financial Need: The scholarship is intended for candidates who require financial assistance to fund their doctoral studies.
- Location: You should be planning to move to Germany for your PhD at Heidelberg University or already be in Germany, attending a language course to acquire the necessary language skills.
Please note that applying for this scholarship does not automatically mean you have applied for a doctorate at Heidelberg University. You need to submit a separate application for the doctoral program in your chosen field.
